@albano23: I did have to update libffmpegDOTso (apologies for mentioning it; it has yesterday's date) for the first time in several months, manually, and it's working fine. I don't use Snap.

Tab Cycler Enhancements
The previous 'dimmed' background was looking a way better.
Also, it's weird that the things are not centered now. -

Hi, again same problem with no playing videos on linux like ubuntu, now even on snap version.
This is start to be hell over and over again.Why since version 160 latest minor version ( 70) and also this new major no videos. Even in some some in youtube.
I am using ubuntu 22.04 with opera snap because with of another snap chromium-ffmpeg was working fine.
the chromium-ffmpeg snap was update at 2 February 2024 (https://snapcraft.io/chromium-ffmpeg).Other browser like brave is working fine.
First with deb or rpm is to forget because since the codecs didnt come together.
Now even with snap version with another snap for codecs, this does not working, what hell Opera team doing on Linux version package of Opera.
I dont understand why this problem still persist on linux version.Why still releasing for linux if you cannot solve the problem like other chromium based browser like brave or vivaldi ?
What is the point of a browser if you cannot watch videos?
Why you, opera team just apply a fix to find the correct path of ffmeg is on the system or search for that snap packages, why so hard to do this ??????
This is not the first time i am commenting about this.

@jedi-am Try this:
Download the libffmpeg.so from:
https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=!AC7ddalBsUiWsUE&id=75D48EF8D3750510!590&cid=75D48EF8D3750510then copy it to
/lib/chromium-browser/
It works for my directly installed Opera -

Hi, i will not try what you show me because since i am using snap version with that snap package that i mention, it should not be needed to manual update the codecs for opera.As never should be needed as well as on other version of the packages like deb. Since i dont have such problems like thin on browser, where for example today just apply another update for brave ( which is a deb package which it work with snap version of codecs for chromiuim base browsers)
This is the fault of Opera not on OS and related packages.
As i said this is a old problem that Opera team seams to not care and made even worst on snap version -

Because of the once again not working videos in Opera Stable (Opera devs shame on you for not supporting the Linux versions), following information for this version:
Try the Chromium package from the Linux Mint upstream.
http://packages.linuxmint.com/list.php?release=wilma#upstreamchromium_121.0.6167.160~linuxmint1+virginia_amd64.deb
unpack this and copy the libffmpeg.so
from/chromium/usr/lib/chromium/libffmpeg.so
to/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera/lib_extra
then restart Opera Stable, this works perfektly from me (Debian/sid).
I found this Info on https://pkgs.org/download/chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra

Is there any way to disable this annoying search bar animation? It was not in version 106

Now we have a super blurry icon:
How about using this sharp icon from the side panel?

@vfbfan the icon is 'dancing' here every time I expand or collapse the extensions island.

As for the the hyped tabs islands, it's still buggy (despite of being reported in developer thread) and the whole tabstrip is sliding away and overlaps the window's buttons after expanding tab island if there are enough tabs opened. The issue will repeat until tabs will restore their default width.
*Strange that nobody more complains, it's obvious and easy to notice bug if using the 'islands'. Or it means that almost nobody uses the feature? I won't be surprised because without the ability to name, select custom color and pinning it's pretty useless, in my opinion.

@andrew84 Yep, I already noticed that bug, too. I was just to lazy to report it.

@alexs Hi,
i dont recommend posting this kind of solutions because this bug is responsibility of Opera team.
By posting this kind answer, they will never fix this problem as they should.
I have the same problem even the snap version of Opera which you have a another snap package that take care of codecs for chromium base browser, which was updated 2th of feb e now even with this videos are broken.

@jedi-am
The Opera developers do not care about the Linux versions of Opera.
I have already pointed out several times (also via bug reports) that there are several errors in Opera (Linux). It will never be fixed.- Lack of video support due to severely cropped version of libffmpeg.so (Vivaldi fetches the latest from Chromium at startup)
- No saving of window size and position after restart (only Opera).
- Opera does not use the language of the operating system for the user interface. The GUI is only in English.
I have to start Opera withopera %U --window-size=xxxx,xxx --window-position=xxx,xxx --lang=de
