You may have found the solution by now, but I'll drop the solution here anyhow just in case someone else needs it.

On a Mac
Go to Bookmarks, select Bookmarks Right Click on a folder On the Right Click Menu there's the Open All...

Solved it!

it worked correctly when I disabled the "Page translator" Opera extension :
https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/page-translator/.

Seems there is a problem with this extension.

@siliconplains44 On Windows, you can open the internal task manager using shift + esc and see the CPU usage of each process. Don't know what would be the shortcut on Mac.

You can try finding it in the menu, it's under developer.

To help others like me looking still for this option and found this topic, What I did was simply install the opera beta version https://www.opera.com/computer/beta and that's it! I use my personal profile with the beta, and the original installation for my work profile.

I also discovered a booking.com bookmark in my speed dial today (running Opera on Mac) and would like to add my voice to the disapproval of this kind of practice. That's really unacceptable but also just weird!

Lately I've been considering switching to Firefox and things like this are a good motivation to stop using Opera.
