From the previews it looks like it's ultra animated win-11 style, and I read that it would be replacing normal opera, will I be able to stay on normal opera? Cause that ultra-animated style genuinely makes me sick. Otherwise I will just switch to Firefox or Yandex.

This is all great and all but you guys keep releasing concept designs like this and then abandon them. Or never implement the designs in main stream versions. I love Opera Touch navigation. But that browser isn't getting updated with new features and doesn't even have sync. Why would anyone want to use these concept designs when there is no future for them?

@leocg: For some years until 2023, when one version of Chromium reached beta phase, opera dev was updated to it. Some times if lucky the dev build got the dev phase Chromium. Although, since this year the dev build gets the stable chromium versions. What happended? Besides, O99 has an earlier version of Chromium than O98, lacking security exploits fixes which are present in O98. How come?

@max1c: What concept designs? This is not a new browser, this is the main Opera browser.

This will replace Opera and Opera GX? Or just be another product?
Edit - It seems like it will replace Opera... I will wait for the Stable branch.

The tab width is so small... you can barely see the entire page title.

@ghirahim: Not sure where you are getting this but I doubt this will ever make it to the main Opera. What concept designs? There have been a ton over the years. The most prominent ones are Opera Touch and Opera GX.

@max1c Opera One is not a concept browser, it's Opera. Current it's the Developer version of Opera, but it will be the stable version in the future.

@leocg: I guess that explains why they have abandoned the current interface and everything is broken.

@op2 The most logical reason to think about is that the development of Opera One made Opera postpone the Chromium intakes, what led to them being out of sync with Chromium releases.

@edmarcio Just Opera. At least for now there's nothing about Opera GX also getting the new UI

@max1c Opera Neon was the only concept browser released by Opera so far.

Opera Touch is still being developed and gets regular updates. The same for Opera GX.
They aren't concept browsers, they are browsers for different audiences.

Tested it and it's mostly great. I like the new interface and all the features. However, it is not possible to pull tabs out of the window anymore? That's a pretty significant downgrade.

At first glance this looks awful, desktop apps are supposed to look like desktop apps. Also why are the tabs no longer tabs and are now buttons. Opera stopped being good with version 15, and yet is still the best out there, sad state of things 😞

                                  From https://www.opera.com/one

Opera One (currently early-access developer version) is a completely redesigned browser, planned to replace the flagship Opera Browser for Windows, macOS, and Linux later this year.

I can't check it right now because of win 8.
Does it have light mode also? Or just dark mode like on screenshots.

@ghirahim: Facepalm is definitely right. Wouldn't expect anything less from someone who doesn't know anything about Opera and a ton of concepts they have been releasing over the years on all platforms.
