Tab island customizations vaporize automatically?
I created a tab island with 'new tab in tab island'. Changed the color of the tab island. Closed the 2nd tab (still blank). Island disappeared, no color.
If I'm going to the trouble of decorating the islands, I want them to be persistent, even if the island temporarily shrinks down to 1 tab.

@filbo Thanks for the feedback!
This is actually expected behavior, not a bug.At the moment, Tab Islands are only supported when they contain more than one tab. If an island is reduced to a single tab, it is automatically dissolved, and any visual customizations (such as color) are not preserved.
We understand the desire for persistent customization, but currently Tab Islands are not designed to exist or be maintained for a single tab.
Best Regards,
Opera Team

Wow, finally the feature I've been waiting for many years – organizing tab groups with custom names and colors – has finally arrived! I'm so happy! And congratulations to all the Opera developers. And as a bonus, the split-screen feature has also been improved. Thank you!

@Opera-QA-Team OK, understood, but you should understand that this is a major design flaw. It means any customizations are fragile and volatile. If I conceive of tab islands as little sets of 'where I do xyz' -- who is to say how many tabs a particular purpose needs at any one moment? It can easily fluctuate down to just one.
It could even go down to zero. The feature would be more useful if we could mark an island as 'persistent' and it would survive even down to zero tabs (then it would just be a small hoverable lozenge, of the chosen color & title, responsive to right-click > open a tab in this forlorn island...)

It could even go down to zeroYes , I suggested the same some time ago.
The island feature improvement goes dramatically slow (it took two years to impelment some customization).
As I was mentioning multiple times, tab island should be also pinnable like ordinary tabs (to preserve it after closing the browser). I was also wondered that there's no option to 'ungroup' islands. -

@andrew84 I find 'Move out from tab island' in the right-click menu of a tab in an island. If you multi-select tabs in an island, right-click 'Move out' takes them all out of the island.
Beware that after doing this, they are still multi-selected -- first time I did this, I immediately hit Ctrl+W and was unhappily surprised to see them all close, when I had intuitively expected it just to be the currently displayed tab after the de-grouping...

Yes, sure. But it means a bunch of extra clicks and keyboard use.
I meant the simple right click on island and select ungroup like in Edge.

I meant the simple right click on island and select ungroup like in Edge. That would be good too. I like that the Edge tab-group-menu repeats 'group' in every item, making it 100% clear what it intends to do. Opera's has its own nice set of tab-group-menu options, but I don't like the inclarity of its choices:

In fact it also has a (fairly different) menu of similar choices available when you have multi-selected non-island tabs; those should also be reworded, even more than the island menu, since it's even more ambiguous:

@filbo Yes, the feature still need improvements. I also suggested earlier that there's no need to see the edit popup each time on hover (it's better to have 'new tab in island' instead) and no need for the 'pill' be displayed if islands have names. Also, tabs in dropdowns should have color indication to better determine its belonging (again like in Edge).
https://forums.opera.com/post/395122*If in short, it'd good just to copy the customization scheme from Edge.
The thing I see in Edge is different now is that there's no 'pin' option like previously and islands are pinned by default after closing. Earlier there was such option.

'Move tab group to new window' is not bad also. -

What are the chances that we will also get the transparent app window, like shown in the screen shots? That would be amazing!
