History Redesign: We’ve polished and updated our history feature

It's still bad (the both sidebar panel and full page).

      1. As for the sidebar.
I was complaining earlier that the History/Bookmarks panel shouldn't react on page default zoom in Settings. I use 125% and it means more scrolling. Now the 'redesigned' History panel is even larger. Taking into account the filters on top and items having the large vertical spacing I see twice less items in the redesigned panel. And still 'recently closed' on top.
      2. There's no option to open full page. On the old one there was option at the bottom and the icon on top.
*I think it'll be enough making the 'History' as link to open the full page

      1. the search fields are poor.
It's simply not clickable and focusable to type if clicking not directly on the tip's text area. The same is on the full page.

      2. search text is still cut (because of being shifted to the left each time) after pressing spacebar (in all the redesigned search fields).

      3. If there's no matches, the page still jumps on top and it's not possible to continue typing/delete text because the search field on top is not in focus.

@andrew84 Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback!

        • The redirect from the history panel to the full page will be fixed in RNA-538.

        • For the other issues you mentioned (panel size/spacing, search field behavior, focus problems), we’ll review them and log separate tasks. I’ll let you know the task numbers once they’re created.

Really appreciate you pointing all this out.

@andrew84: Without this flag the "extra palette" won’t work, it’s needed for cases like the Calma or Sossego themes.

Just the sake of curiosity because of Opera user since 3.6 - I have missed something but what are meaning of RNA in changelog? I think CHR is Chrome/ium and DNA is normal bugs but RNA seems to start in smaller number and it started couple of builds ago in 122-series?

Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others. ...

@andrew84 We’ve logged two new issues based on your feedback:

              • RNA-540 – [History refresh] Search history input field not fully clickable

              • RNA-541 – [History refresh] Text cutoff in search input when typing with spaces

As for the zoom behavior, we’ll need to think this one through a bit more before deciding on the best approach. The last issue you mentioned (losing focus when there are no matches) will likely be covered under the task related to typing with spaces.

              Really appreciate your detailed observations.

@koimark: Hi! RNA is a new project where we log tasks, which is why the task numbers are lower. DNA will still stay alive for some other tasks, so you may continue to see both for a while, but for now most new issues will be logged under RNA.

@francehelders: You can already do this using Aria. Just make sure the "AI Prompts in text highlight popup" option is enabled in your settings. Once that’s on, simply highlight any text and you’ll see the option to translate it.

I just tested whether the crash still occurs when typing capital letters into the address bar. It does! Is that intentional?

@ralf-brinkmann: Thanks for testing and reporting this! The crash when typing capital letters isn’t intentional. The issue is currently being investigated, and our developers are working on a fix for it.
