A couple of weeks ago, I reported that after an update of the Opera v119 beta release stream, the size of the font used for tabs, the address bar, and icon labels had decreased.
This deteriorated the readability of the affected items for me. Looking for a clue on how to fix this issue, I was told that no change had taken place.
When I provided comparison screenshots of the v119 beta and v118 stable that show the different font size, none of the developer team seemed to know about this change.
I uninstalled the v119 beta and continued using the v118 stable stream.
Today, the v119 beta series got promoted to stable. After the auto-update, I am looking at the same decreased font sizes of the v119 stream I reported weeks ago.
Comparison screenshots:
Dear Opera development team, how can the users adjust the size of this font, or revert it to its previous v118 state?
Additionally, the color of the background got altered to a lighter grey. How can the user adjust this color, or revert it to its former v118 setting?
For future releases, please consider providing configuration options along with such elemental UI design changes, as these are never a one-size-fits-all decision.
Thank you, and wishing you all the best.

@the-deus-ex: @the-deus-ex: Thank you for reaching out and sharing your detailed feedback. We haven’t made any changes to the font sizes in the update. However, if you’d like to adjust the font sizes to your preference, you can do so by navigating to opera://settings/fonts. From there, you can customize the font sizes to better suit your needs.
Regarding the colors, you can try adjusting them in the theme gallery to find a look that better matches your preferences. This might help restore the appearance you’re more comfortable with. If you need any more help or guidance, don’t hesitate to ask! -

These are the same answers I got a couple of weeks ago. If there have been made any changes to the font sizes, how is the different font sizing I documented to be explained?
The suggestion to navigate to opera://settings/fonts and adjust the font sizes didn't yield any changes to the font used for the tabs, address bar, and icon labels. This is the same suggestion and the same result I got a couple of weeks ago.
Here are screenshots showing the before/after result, after setting the font size slider to the max setting.
The size of that particular font must be affected by some other setting in Opera, which I haven't been able to identify. Could you check back with your team on what other setting or value could be the cause for the decreased font size?
Regarding my question on how to revert the background color to the darker grey of Opera v118, your suggestion to try adjusting a theme doesn't allow for solving the issue.
The only theme that alters the background is the Aurora theme, but it doesn't allow setting a dark grey background, and its theme color isn't distributed equally on the interface.
This is quite unsatisfying as I currently have no way to adjust the discussed items to my preferences, and I have to cope with the situation as is.
I'm hoping you are going to provide us with more control to adjust these details affecting the UI design, and thus the user experience and usability to such a great extent.

Hi,
I'm working on MDN's browser-compat-data (BCD) on behalf of Mozilla, and that data includes Opera release data.
Previous Opera release notes (e.g. Opera 118) mentioned the Chromium version that the Opera version upgraded to, and our automation relies on this information to ensure our Opera release data is accurate (see this issue).
Would it be possible for you to add the Chromium version to the Opera 119 and future release notes?
Thanks a lot

@caugner Changelogs https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/changelog-for-118/ and https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/changelog-for-119/ for example, mention when Opera updates to a new version of Chromium (and what version that is) at least. Probably not fun to track that way though.
