@leocg: I don't care about this normalized volume bullshit, what I want is the pip window volume control to work. I want pip window volume control, control video volume. Did I make myself clear?

@kened Yes, since the first post. And I'm trying to explain why things work that way.

See YouTube's volume as the master one and the video pop-out volume as a secondary one. The secondary volume can't be higher than the master one.

Also, video pop-out has its own volume and doesn't control the origin video volume as you already know.

@leocg: Again: Youtube video volume is "X", I open the pip window, change the volume to "Y", a few milliseconds later, the video volume in the pip window goes back to "X". It doesn't matter if "X" is greater or less than "Y". The volume in the pip window always goes back to the same as the tab where the video is playing. This is not desired behavior. It makes no sense to have a volume control in the pip window if I can't control the volume in the pip window. Do a test.

@leocg: I hope someone from the Opera team reads these messages and fixes the bug.

                  @kened I guess it's more of a feature request.

@kened It's not easy tio test when very few browsers have volume control on video pop-out (picture-in-pricture). I check Firefox, Chrome and Vivaldi and none of them had it.

Anyway, normalized volume is the maximum (real) volume allowed by YouTube for that video. And that's why video pop-out volume doesn't go beyond that.

In other video services you probably don't see it happening.

@leocg: You can test with Opera 99, Yandex and Firefox. What is happening is that the pip window volume control is not working on youtube. You change the volume in the pip window, but it goes back to the previous level (whatever that may be) a few seconds later.

it goes back to the previous level

                        Hi.
Do you mean that visually the volume bar is also jumping back or you just hear the volume returns back?
If visually, I can't confirm it here. By hearing I can't say for sure.

@leocg the same question. Under 'normalization' you mean that visually the volume level bar should go back to the normalized one or you just hear it?

                        For example:
On some video volume is 100%/52%(in nerd stats). When I set 100% volume (full volume bar) on youtube video and then open PiP, I see half of the volume level bar in the PiP. But after I adjust the volume level in the PiP nothing is jumping back and visually the volume bar is fully synchronized with the one on youtube page. If I will adjust the volume level on youtube page again, the PIP's volume visually will be reduced at 50% again.

@andrew84 Edit: I could reproduce the issue in O95, but only for live (streamable) videos so far.
If I set on youtube page 30% volume level for example and then in PiP I set full volume(100%), after few second the level will jump back to 30% automatically.
The same behavior in the latest developer version.

@kened Here Firefox doesn't have volume control on PIP.

Will try checking on Opera 99 but there could have been a change in Chromium, so it would be interesting to test with the same Chromium version.

@andrew84 I tested with the YouTube volume at 100% but with a normalized volume lower than that, like 70%.
In video pop-out the volume slider is at 70% and if I move it to 100%, it returns to 70% after a while.

                                1. I open random music video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqc893TG4vM
                                2. I set 100% on youtube (it shows 100% / 58% in stats nerd)
                                3. I open PiP (I see volume level a bit more than 50%)
                                4. Set 100% in PiP.
                                5. It stays 100% in PiP and it is fully synchronized with the volume on youtube page when I move the slider in PiP (it means 50% in PIP = 50%, or 70% in PiP = 70% on youtube) until I touch the volume bar again on youtbe page.

*If I open live (stream) music video, then the slider in PiP jumps back after few seconds and volume level always = volume level on Youtube page (doesn't matter if I set the volume level in PiP less or greater one on YouTube page)

@leocg yes, but if you set volume less than 70% in PiP, it shouldn't increase automatically back. As I I understood this also happens to @kened.
It also happens to me with live videos.
I set 100% (or 80%, 90% doesn't matter) on youtube, then in PiP I set volume to minimum(10% for example) and after few seconds volume jumps back to the value set on youtube page.

@andrew84: Both: visually and also audio goes back to the tab level. On any other website, it is possible to adjust the volume level via the pip window control. On youtube this is not happening as it should. This can be easily tested with Opera 99, Yandex and Firefox.

@leocg: In Firefox you can control the volume of the pip window with the up and down arrow keys on your keyboard.
