Thought I'd try out Opera for the VPN feature. Turned out it was very limited, so I signed up for VPN Pro as it offered a 7 day trial. Still wanted credit card details, I was fine with that. After I signed up for the trial it gave me the following message:
"Your 4xxxxxxxxxxxxx order is pending.
When your payment is received, we will send you by email an order receipt and instructions to set up and manage your subscription."

That was 10hrs ago - no email, no VPN Pro, nothing. There's no payment to receive as this is a free trial, and will only be charged after the trial, so I'm not sure what they're reviewing.

Is this normal? Is this eating into my free trial time? Is Opera a scam? I logged a ticket with 'Nexway' the payment company they use but nothing from them as well. Appreciate any advice here, thank you.

Hello,

I was using Opera Beta and opened a lot of tabs, unfortunately it's a website that somehow made Opera use a lot of memory and it got killed by the OOM killer.

After reopenning Opera, only 2 of my 4 windows got restored, with no way of restoring them, nor any traces of the lost tabs in the history.

I only have a backup from last Sunday (6 days ago).
Is there any way to recover all those tabs from Opera itself or should I consider them forever lost and restore from the backup?

Browser info (translated from Spanish):

I subscribe to all those posts that wish Ecosia and Qwant were added to the custom search engines and could be chosen as standard in Opera on desktop (as is possible for both on Android and for Qwant on iOS).
I deeply support the vision of both to create a European alternative search index independent from Google, Microsoft and Brave. And I think, Opera as self-acclaimed European browser should be in the same boat.

I've seen the ID there also. About the url I've found by accident, when clicking on a tab there's a "copy page address", so you can get the URL even if it is an addon.
Bookmark links don't execute on first click.

Upon reading your two other posts, I take back my question. It seems you're just a general malcontent. You've submitted a string of complaints about a very feature-rich browser that is new to you, and that you haven't taken the time to learn about.

Complaints about the browser being inadequate to relieve your bile, you turn to criticizing the way Opera operates its forum, too? You look more like a troll than someone sincerely searching for answers.

Hi @starlighthustle, go toopera:settings/keyboardShortcuts> Find next, and remove F3. You can use e.g. "Ctrl+G", or add a new custom key combination for this feature.

It's really not Opera's fault. The Windows 10 issues might be because you have Windows 10 Creator's Update (build 1703 or above) installed. I had no problems with Opera on Windows 10 until the moron at the repair shop installed Creators Update on my laptop without asking me what was my original OS. So I'm stuck with it since I have no way of rolling back to good old Win 10 1607. 😢 Creators Update is the worst version of Windows that I've had. And I've been through plenty of them.

Issue turned out to be an update to the anti-virus software. No idea why it affected Opera in this way but not other browsers, but tweaking the AV settings resolved the issue. Posting in case others have the same issue.

Opera Mail is an unfinished experiment that takes the Opera browser suite (Opera 12 for example, which includes Opera Mail) and hides/disables most of the browser parts of the UI so that it only shows the mail parts. In doing so, a crash bug was introduced that occurs when you try to set an image in a signature. The bug was never fixed, Opera Mail was never finished and Opera Mail was discontinued years ago not long after it was created.

You have 2 options to work around it:

One is to use the Opera Mail that's in Opera 12 and only use it for mail. In "Alt + p -> Advanced -> Programs", you can add/set http and https to open in the default browser so clicking on links in messages open in your default browser instead of inside Opera 12.

The other workaround is for Opera Mail. You can avoid the crash by closing down Opera Mail and editing the signatureN.txt file in the "mail" folder where N is the number for the account as seen in accounts.ini. See "Menu -> Help -> About Opera Mail" for the location. To include an image, you use HTML markup like this:
<img src="https://www.google.com/images/logo.gif">
You then use other HTML markup for the text content of the signature.

There's no option to use a local image on your hard drive. However, if you convert the image to a data URL and use that URL in the for the src instead, it'll work for recipients that have a client that supports that.
