Finally got around to uninstalling with Revo (which I love) and cleaning the Registry before re-installing. No joy. But I did notice it usually happens after the screensaver has been active.

Opera has the folders for each Speed Dial position. Chrome has extensions for the Speed Dial, but none of them, that I'm aware of, give you folders for a Speed Dial position. Since the Speed Dial is important to me, that's a plus. Firefox has an excellent extension, Super Start 7.3.3, which does give you the folders for each Speed Dial position, and perhaps, gives you ways to make the art better than even Opera 29 does.

The problem, like with so many work-arounds, is that even if it were to work to block subsequent updates, there are no guarantees that some other mechanism couldn't over-ride it to force an update or that it might even be reset by something else. What is needed is a clear, simple user auto-updating option in the browser controls to allow, notify-and-block, or block-without-notifying. You know... like every other piece of software on the planet except certain Chrome-derivative web browsers.

You should probably use Acrobat's browser plugin if you want decent plugin support. The Chrome reader has all kinds of issues regardless if you are using Chrome or Opera.

Works fine for me at 100%. Maybe an extension is causing issues? Try visiting the page in a private window and see if that helps.

He has a link to the source code for version 0.02 on his website, if you have any programming experience you might be able to convert it.

(Yes, the page is Polish and I can't read it, but it does say BSD license, and when I hover the link "zdroják" the file title is http://www.pepak.net/files/tools/chromepass-0.02-source.zip so ... oh, and there's a contact form on the page as well, so I suppose you could write him and ask.)

I've already seen that thread and I found out there were sidebar extensions that fix it to make Opera into a usable browser though the bookmarks should get fixed properly so they show up in the menu like they used to before the update.

Its got one. When you sync your speed dials it saves them in the 'Other Speed Dials' folder in the bookmarks manager.

If you click on a speed dial icon with ctrl click or middle click, it opens in a new tab for me. I use Opera 29 with Windows 7.

Yep, seems to be working this way here too.
