  To enable list view just click the icons at the top of the bookmarks manager near the middle. Its between the search box and the word 'Bookmarks'.

  Clearing what? How?

  To empty the cache you can go to History > Clear browsing data or just open the cache folder and, with Opera closed, delete all files in it.

  I tried it this way, but there are so many bookmarks from 9gag that it would take an eternity to select them all by hand

  Lando, I realise that my usage is "uncommon" -- I rarely maximise my windows, and I have less than 1080 horizontal pixels to play with. In extremely urgent cases, when I absolutely positively have to see a full web site e.g. for my work, I'll turn the screen into landscape mode (then: 1920 pixels), but changing screen resolution in Windows 7 isn't an instant action. According to W3, the most common screen resolution is 1366x768, so that's about 300 pixels more than I have.

  Does Opera 31 have something similar to small-screen-view? I don't mind visiting certain sites in "mobile mode", e.g. online forums.

  James, I use my screen for work, and I work on MS Word documents, and documents are typically not in landscape, so it makes more sense to use an 1080x1920 monitor in portrait than in landscape (using it in landscape is like working through a letterbox -- can't see an entire page).

  A while back, Chase changed to the TLS 1.2 protocol, but still (apparently) allows the weak SHA1 and the RC4 cipher in their connection negotiations. I'm frankly not sure whether Olde Opera is capable of communicating with the combinations now offered by Chase, or whether the Chase cert even points Opera in the right direction. Moreover, there's always that old bug-a-boo: browser sniffing, that can cause all manner of grief because of whatever their site code does with it.

  I agree, which is why I'm contemplating on posting the problem on a more OS related forum. As for the permissions... I did all that ages ago, my account is the only active acount on the PC and I made sure that it has permission to access all the files for that very reason. That said, I will look through Appdata and the user folder to make sure I still have full access.

  Now on to why I actually posted this here, I want to cover my bases and while it may very well be Windows related, I wanted to make sure before posting in a more general forum directed at Win 8 users. The simple fact is they usually don't have as much knowhow regarded to specific software as people on forums like these.

  Anyway... Thanks for the help and I'll try looking through the files again to check them and if I'm still stuck, I'll head over to a Windows forum.

  For Developer, "build" will actually be the date it was built on - as in, build number is auto-incremented daily. Not knowing the exact date they are using for build 1 though it isn't a direct conversion. When Developer shifts to Beta and then Stable, they stop incrementing "build" at the branch point and only patch level goes up - but patch level isn't once daily, it is whenever they make a change to it. So even on Developer I've seen patch levels of like 24 (that is, in one day).

  Left side panel, if you haven't turned off the hotlist/sidebar. There's a Compose button, what looks like it could be some sort of Refresh button (if you hover it, it'll say Check/Send), and the wrench for View. Click on the arrow next to Check/Send to select specific accounts to check, or click the main button to Check all (if you haven't set the account to be ignored under Check all - if you have then selecting that specific account is the only option that will work).
