You can check if there's a new version available:
On your Android phone or tablet, open the Play Store app. .
At the top right, tap the profile icon.
Tap Manage apps & device.
Under "Updates available," find Chrome. .
Next to Chrome, tap Update.

@alobpreis Ah, thank you so much. Sorry, I'm not that good when figuring out that kind of stuff and before Google was my default and I didn't change it so I don't know why it changed to Amazon. Thank you so much though!
I've never seen anything like this, but I would try these:
Incognito/Private Window
Open Developer Toolbar and under the Application tab click on "Clear site data".
Check if there is any extension that could be causing this. You can also try disabling ad blockers.
If everything fails, try an Opera Portable instance.
With Task Manager, Resource Manager or maybe a 3rd party tool like System Explorer check the CPU usage when this happens, sorting processes by CPU usage, of course. The "average" column (available in the last two) might be more useful in case the spikes are missed.
