I just did a reinstall of my Win7 and now my message list is alternating from grey to white. How to get rid of this? I see nothing in Opera Mail Preferences.

@rh99 I'll have to fire up my old copy of Opera 12 to see where it's supposed to go - it was dropped from the Settings dialog of Mail, but was available as a setting in old Opera. I remember the name, Row List Color Mode, but I'll need to see where it needs to go in the file operaprefs.ini

@sgunhouse I looked in
operaprefs_default.ini
but all I see is this:
Opera Preferences version 2.1
; Do not edit this file while Opera is running
; This file is stored in UTF-8 encoding[System]
Multi User=0[User Prefs]
Language Files Directory={Resources}locale\en
Language File={Resources}locale\en\en.lng -

According to my Opera 12, this is the name of the setting:
[User Prefs] Color List Row Mode=
If the whole setting line is missing, it means the user never changed the setting and the default of 0 is used, which is alternating I think.
If the setting is present, it means the user changed the setting at some point.
I think 2 turns it off. I forget what 1 does.
You can add opera:config to Opera Mail if you want to change it from the UI instead.

@burnout426 There were two alternating-line styles, at least originally. I believe one was gray bars instead of blue. Can't see the difference currently.

@rh99 I had the correct name for the file, the location is as specified in Help > About Opera Mail (labelled as "Preferences")
In recent versions of Windows your user settings directory is hidden by default, but if you copy and paste the full path into your editor's Open dialog it will open properly.

@burnout426 That worked. Thank you very much. The background color is the background Windows color (if its been changed from white). I wonder how to control it though (independently). Not many people want the glare of a white background but you have to be very careful because your non-bold fonts get very low in contrast with a gray background. Even a very light gray works well though.

https://forums.opera.com/post/49905 is an old thread with some info on how Opera gets some of the message list colors from the system colors. Might be helpful.
