The change is good (a bit late. but better late than never ) , especially that the name is displayed directly on the tabstrip.

But I think the original 'pill' shouldn't be displayed if the name exists (should exists only if name is empty). Looks cleaner and more space for symbols.

Also, like was mentioned in the previous thread https://forums.opera.com/post/394860
islands should be pinnable. And the customization tooltip can appear at the moment of creating an island.

*maybe there should be option to hide the name for those who still prefer seeing only the 'pills' on the tabstrip and see name only on the tooltip on hover.

@andrew84: Good point that name and pill are not good together.

Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others. ...

Opera won't open. I don't know why. I restarted the laptop and tried again but it won't start. 🤷🏼♂ 🏃♂ 🤪

One suggestion: when right clicking on a tab to move it to a certain tab island, it would be great if the menu would have the user-made tab island name, not the name of the first tab in the island. E.g. I have a tab island named 'YouTube', and this is what should appear on the menu when I want to add a YouTube page to it. Thanks!

I still think that tab island also can contain only 1 tab after closing second last tab.

Right after an island was created the popup should appear.
                2025-11-04_221504.png

But later on hover there's no need to see the name twice each time.
                2025-11-04_222342.png
The same is with the color palette.

Instead we could have 'Edit' option (text or icon) on hover inside tooltip. Also, the + button for creating 'new tab in island' can be transfered from the tabstrip onto the tooltip.
And the tabs belonging to the island can be marked somehow (colorful vertical lines for instance or border).

*right click context menu should include 'pin/unpin' island option.

**Btw, I don't see currently option to ungroup island?? How can I close island and see the tabs separately as before?

@andrew84: Thanks for the feedback and suggestions! We will discuss it. Regarding ungrouping tab islands, for now you can select all the tabs and choose 'Move out from tab island' - the tabs won't be in island anymore. But we understand that simple ungouping option would be useful for you.

I wonder that such obvious option wasn't implemented from the very beginning.

*Basically the suggestions are inspired by Edge's right click menu. There was also 'pin' option recently but later removed for some reason and now the 'groups' are pinned by default after browser closing. Opera should have the same (adopted) context menu (move to new window can be moved into existing 'Move to' submenu for workspaces).

@parduspars: Yes, almost immediate crashes here as well, on Fedora 43. I cannot tell which of my tabs triggers this.

Crash reports are automatically submitted, so I will just wait for an update.

@mbstafs Test to see if it's a tab with video.

@mbstafs we are aware of crash on startup related to Split Screen. If Split Screen feature has been used in previous session this will cuase crash loop on startup.
