Here, Opera is not creating those files.
Do you use any extensions? And what about anti-virus?
BTW, what version of Opera and what OS?

Last version (37.0.2178.43) on Windows 10. All extensons was deactivated. If you close the Opera folders are removed, but I turn off my PC without closing Opera and folders become too much.

Does the same happens in a standalone installation?

Not sure i understand you, but I installed pure Opera to other PC and result is the same. Apparently this is a bug (or feature:)) of the new version of Opera.

Well, it never happened here so far.
Does it happens with all types of files? 'Ask where to save each file before downloading' is enabled or disabled?
And what about the anti-virus? Do you use any?

Did you not reproduce this situation? It only with executable files. I think it for created service files by application, but they must be cleansed after completing.

What kind of antivirus you've using? Chrome, Opera and many other programs can create these folders (this looks like result of some windows system call), but they should be automatically removed, unless some other process interferes or host process crashes. And, those scoped dir folders should be created in temp folder, not in downloads - I just looked, I had one in temp, about month old - probably from some rare occasion when Opera dev crashed.

Nope. I guess you are just the second one i see reporting this issue.
It only with executable files
IIRC it was by design but they may be changing it.

Happens for me as well. Using Opera Beta 38.0.2220.25 on Win7.
Seps to reproduce:
- Download an executable.
- Launch it from Downloads section.
- A scoped_dir_{random numbers} folder will be created in the same folder with the downloaded executable and copy of the file will be put there.

Have a same sequence as n21lv. When open some downloaded file from download small window in top right corner it's create directory called scoped_dir_18880_2476 (numbers always random) in download directory. Please fix in future version.

I also have been having this problem. First started with 37.xxx and now with 38.xxx Both Win 7 and Win 8 machines.
I can reproduce following the above steps.

Does it happens no matter on which directory you save the file? Does it happens only if you run the file from Opera?

It happen only when i open (setup file) from opera.
If i save file in system partition, then scoped_dir is created in AppData\Local\Temp
All scoped_dir are removed when i close opera.
scoped_dir is created before i click open in Open File - Security Warning Message
(my english suck, forgive me)

It happens no matter what directory I save it to when I start it from Opera. It puts the scoped dir in the dir that you saved the file in. If you start it outside of Opera it doesn't create the scoped dir.
