@anonimus1337 Check opera://extensions and disable anything you don't recognize, then set Google again at opera://settings/searchEngines. If it keeps switching back after restarting, I'd check for unwanted software or a regional configuration issue before reinstalling Opera.

I tested in older builds of Opera and see that typing a search engine shortcut like 'a' (when set for Amazon for example) just by itself does nothing and just searches for 'a' with the default search engine. A space after the 'a' though does the trick and searches Amazon (for example) with no search term.

In the latest builds of Opera, I see that 'a' and a space for example no longer does the trick and it has to be 'a', a space and then some other character that's not a space.

I'm not sure if that's an intentional change or not and not sure if the change comes from Chromium or something Opera did.

@Titsubishi So, it looks like you have to get an Arch maintainer for "Extra" in the official repository to repackage Opera and include it. Looks like it's not something Opera can do itself.

Looks like https://archlinux.org/people/package-maintainers/ are the current maintainers of apps. Guess you can find one and point them to https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/opera and https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/opera-gx for examples of Opera packaging working at least.

However, Chrome is not even in the official repo due to proprietary licensing. I'm guessing the same thing would apply to Opera, but not sure. There's a good chance Opera is only allowed in the AUR.

@maxin2003 I was able to test paramountplus signed in with an account.

In Opera, goto the URL opera://browserjs and disable browser.js for the session so that the paramountplus.com page doesn't go black and so that the sign in page doesn't say "forbidden".

Once signed in, go to the page for a movie/episode you want to play.

Then, goto the URL opera://extensions, turn on developer mode, click "load unpacked" and point it to the extracted folder of my paramountplus.com workaround extension where manifest.json is at. That will load the extension. Then, at the URL opera://extensions, turn on "Allow access to search page results" for the extension.

Then, on the movie/episode page, reload the page and play the video. If it says "optimzing your video playback" and then goes back to not playing the video (but doesn't give you an error), click the video to play it again and it should work. Only had to do that once.

Tested with the Joe Dirt movie and a South Park episode. The both played fine in Opera after a few ads played.

I did not test with any adblockers on, so you might want to disable Opera's adblocking and tracking protection at the URL opera://settings/privacyProtection and any adblocker extensions first. You also might want to disable lucid mode at the URL opera://settings/lucidMode first (I didn't need to though).

@IbrahimKhalil786 Aria is very limited. It's acts like Qwen 3 4b. You'd be best off using Hermes, and connecting through Browser Connector. I don't even know if Browser connector can get Aria to do stuff or vice versa.

This sounds like Opera is clearing your cookies or site data after the update. Go to Settings → Privacy & security → Delete browsing data → On exit and make sure cookies and other site data aren't selected for deletion. Also check opera://settings/content/siteData and make sure sites are allowed to save data on your device. If it keeps happening with YouTube, check whether any extensions or privacy tools are clearing Google's cookies.

You can compare the chrome extension in the right sidebar and the ChatGPT WebUI pop-up on the left sidebar with the same prompts.

The left pop-up has Opera Browser Connector plugin installed.
'@opera' summons it: click to invoke it.

The right side-panel has Chrome Extension 'ChatGPT' installed.

I don't see a way to install either plugin to the other side,
but the left pop-up sometimes detects browsers with the chrome extension, even without a plugin explicitly installed.

Nothing (Extensions and AI) works reliably, possibly because my PC is of very limited spec.

I'd check whether Opera's VPN or proxy is enabled first, then try opening a private window to see if the connection works there. If it still doesn't work, disable your extensions temporarily and check whether Opera is allowed through Windows Firewall. Since other browsers connect fine, the problem is probably specific to Opera rather than your internet connection.

Truly an impressive number of crashes per hour. You guys always manage to outdo yourselves.
