I'm confused by this release. It seems to suggest that dynamic themes are now available. However, after updating I can only select Classic themes and have Coming Soon for the rest.

@burnout426 Here's what I see:
I installed the preview versions and I had Aurora and Midsommar before. But not in this release.

@burnout426: Ok, nevermind. It's because I disabled hw acceleration since I keep getting blinking black screens all the time.

@burnout426: I get a blinking screen sometimes and then the whole browser just turns white until I completely restart it. Happens on RTX 3080 and on a laptop without a dedicated GPU. Unfortunately, not exactly usable themes.

@max1c Ah, makes sense. I assume you tried setting the "Choose ANGLE graphics backend" flag at the URL
opera://flags/#use-angle
to "opengl" when hardware acceleration is on to see if that fixes your issue? -

In previous version i could set my daily changing desktop wallpaper as my background in opera.
Not seeing that anymore. Why was this feature removed?
If not removed, where is it now?

After a long time, I wanted to update my Opera and give it another try, but my classic problem continues: I can't watch Twitter and Instagram videos. I don't have this problem in other chromium-based browsers on my system, but I can't figure out why I have it in Opera. It seems like I'll close Opera again now and wait for the next version.

*It's a bit strange that it's impossible to select wallpaper when predefined theme is selected. I think it should be possible after the 'Animated' toggle is disabled.
*Another one thing I noticed is that tiles on your screenshot have the semitransparent light background. But here it's dark background.
*and I think that the search box should be also semitransparent while not focused.

@burnout426: Yes, OpenGL fixes the blinking. But these themes don't work at all with OpenGL. Everything is just white.

For me the annoying thing is that the Midsommar and Aurora Theme does not have the animation or the background, maybe they use opengl and not vulkan?

@andres85961234 What animation are you talking about? Here, Aurora has animation.

@leocg: On my device the animation and background Midsommar and Aurora don't work, they stay blank.

@max1c When you have hardware acceleration on and have the Angle flag set to "opengl", what does
opera://gpu
say? Is it showing everything is hardware-accelerated or does it say it's using software? If the latter, that would explain why it really doesn't work any better than having hardware acceleration off. If the former, it might be a bug in Opera or your GPU drivers. Not sure. Nvidia + hardware acceleration + opengl is usally the ticket to getting everything working perfectly, but... -

@KeivMS Click the Easy Setup button. If you already have the classic theme selected, hover over it and click the edit button. If you don't have it selected yet, click "theme gallery" and choose the classic theme.
In the properties of the classic theme, there should be wallpapers lister there where you can pic your desktop as the wallpaper.
Does that work and it's just not animated or does that not work at all?

@andres85961234 What OS? animation doesn't work even when you are on start page/speed dial?

The most welcome news and feature from this update has to be that Opera R2 will continue supporting Manifest V2 extensions beyond the June 2025 cut off date. That is great news!!!
