@burnout426, this should be repaired as soon as possible. I'm back on 108.0.5047.0 Developer for now.

I know that this is developer channel and you have warning note for that but i'm always using dev like primary version. Since day 1.
This applies to all programs and the system itself. Now I'm on the latest build of Windows 11 Insider.

But I still believe that in such cases (critical) you should have hot fixes. Urgent correction of a specific error.
Or at least implement rollback systems to the previous version.

It broke almost all my extensions and lost all my tabs.
There seems like there is no way to fix or retrieve them.
Repairs on extensions do not work and history cannot restore old tabs.
            Why, why, why???
            So disappoint team!!!

Is there way to get the broken extensions back other than reverting to the previous Opera version?

@nashuim For now I have reverted back to Opera Stable until this is fixed. I copied the backed up profile I made before this update to Opera Stable and all is working again.

You would think that before an update is released you would check that extensions work. The update has corrupted all my extensions and uninstalling and reinstalling still fails!

@nashuim Make a copy of the Extensions folder in a different place and reinstall the extensions from there.

Go to opera://extensions and enable developer mode.

@leocg Can you please explain further. Step by step?

How do I reinstall the extensions?

                      Thanks

@nashuim In the profile directory. Check oppera://about for the path.

@steven1958 In opera://extensions/, enable Developer Mode.

Click on Load unpacked, find the extension folder in the copy that you've made and select the subfolder with the version number.

@leocg Thanks. I have been able to now to reinstall the extensions. Lots of errors reported, mainly ""manifest_version": 2,"
Also I saw that some extensions will maybe stop working this year.

Same here, 3 of my extensions got corrupted as well. On which Dashlane for example. Not really convenient right now.

@ralf-brinkmann Maybe a silly question, but what is the most convenient and straightforward method in this case to perform a rollback 😅

@xsellize as far as I know you can download an oldrr version however Opera forces you to update to the last one. An interim solution is mentioned above in this thread and it's about creating a new extention folder and force Opera to point to that.

                                    Hi @zusu72

I was assuming something like that indeed.
However, we're indeed kind of screwed by the automatic update configuration from Opera itself.
I do think the extension thing they mentioned above was meant for how you could recover your extensions in the stable version, not how to bypass the Opera automatic update configuration.
But I could be wrong, of course 😅

@xsellize I'm using this extension folder workaround until the new release (hopefully) will fix the bug.
                                      Not ideal, but it works.

Failed to work for me! Currently use Opera Stable portable with updates off, so, I always have an Opera browser that works. Too good to get broken.

@xsellize, I installed Opera as a standalone version. Therefore everything is in one directory, no additional directories in the user folder or anywhere else. Before I install a new version, I copy the entire Opera folder to a backup disk. If something goes wrong during or after the update installation, I delete the entire Opera folder and write back the backed up one. And I always start Opera with the " --disable-update" parameter so that after starting it doesn't automatically check for updates and install something against my will.
