      @andrew84 See https://forums.opera.com/post/207332

      Usually what happens, according to my experience of more that twenty years uisng and following Opera's development is:

      • A new feature is added
      • People complain abou that feature
      • (After a long time) The feature is renoved
      • People complain that the feature was removed

        @ab-garcez Not sure if it's already in 68, but Search in Tabs now allows you to search in page content. It may be useful for those with lots of tabs opened to find out a specific one.

          @leocg thanks. I replied the dev about it. Let's hope they consider making it back.

            @leocg it's not, but I have no use for it. I only (really) miss Googling without opening a new tab.

              @leocg
              If the new feature is switchable off, there can't be complaints.
              I do not use the 'Instant Search' so I switched it off and I don't complain, I also don't mind if someone likes it.

              'Search in Tabs' is not a new feature. This is an old feature that was part of another feature previously. So they could just remove the 'web' part from 'Instant Search' and call it 'Search in tabs'.

              Regarding the provided forum's link.
              I don't know how they do gather their statistics (what kind of telemetry), but let's say that 'Instant Search' was not popular. But I do not understand how does the TabMenu refer here then?
              Unpopularity of Instant Search means that the TabMenu was also not popular?

                @andrew84 It would be a perfect scenario but, in the real world, this is not how things work. Simply there can't be options for everything, everytime.

                Regarding the link, it tells the (main) reason for a feature to be removed. Just change Instant Search for any other.

                      Well, that seems to be the philosophy of Vivaldi ... pack the browser with tons of features so that the user decides how he/she wishes to browse the world-wide-web. If that is truly Opera's philosophy as you say, I think you will see more migrating Vivaldi's way -- I definitely keep my eye on it -- I cannot believe that TabMenu and Instant Search wasn't widely used enough to keep it in the works, at least as an option.

                      I think Opera gets most things right, but I have to disagree here some, honestly.

                        @treego Vivaldi is a business opportunity that sometimes who have earned a lot of money with Opera saw when Opera changed its engine to Chromium, leaving a lot of Presto widows behind.
                        Vivaldi was created for those users and seems to still be developed for them.

                        I don't represent Opera at all, so I can't say if it is their philosophy but I guess I could say it's probably the philosophy of 7, 8 out of 10 companies. Users can't always have a choice.

                          @avl Guess one could hit alt to open the Menu and then h to open that submenu to make it a little faster.

                              @ab-garcez: We’ve noticed that very few of you used it for searching. We changed the Instant search and kept its core functionality: searching among open tabs, which is now easily reachable with its own dedicated button next to your tabs.

                                    @vegelund: We're not able to reproduce this issue - can you tell the specific letter you're setting? And maybe you've got some extensions installed?

                                      @leocg Well, it means that some time ago Opera was making perfect decisions in contrast to what is happening now.

                                        I understand. But a green, white or other color padlock means that SSL is implemented. So what does it matter what color is set here?

                                        @kmielczarczyk

                                        I have a different question for you, a question for the developer of Opera. When will you fix this bug?

                                        Since several editions of the Opera, a folder: opera autoupdate is automatically created in the Downloads folder in my documents. This folder contains the Crash Reports folder and the file opera_autoupdate.txt

                                        Look, this is not a issue from my computer. Recently, I installed a clean Windows friend and installed the latest Opera and this "opera autoupdate" folder was created in the Download folder.

                                        Contents opera_autoupdate.txt

                                        [7032:7052:0423/111718.051:313858:WARNING:update_check_handler_impl_win.cc(75)] [AU] Task failure count : 0
                                        [7032:7052:0423/111718.051:313858:INFO:protocol_impl.cc(831)] Main update resource available: false

                                        Fix it because it's frustrating.

                                          Did anyone else get this "suggestion" in their opera installation too?
                                          I had not checked opera://extensions for years and I almost believed that it was already installed!
