@cybrsaylr Tried Vivaldi and it is as you said. Tested it on http://247games.org. Now I have a browser where I can play my favorites without having to switch browsers. Vivaldi's lack of VPN does not matter since the Opera VPN does not function. Now would be the time to try out Opera Turbo as it conflicts with VPN. By the way, http://www.247hearts.com/ does not play in Firefox. http://www.247slots.org/ does not play in Google Chrome, but does play in Chromium. http://www.247spades.com/ does not play in Chromium. The programmers for the website are working to make all the games playable in all the browsers, but they are not there yet. So far, a couple of the games that did not play before now play well, but Vivaldi is the only browser in which all the games play. Thank you so very much for the Vivaldi reference.

As I said in your previous thread that got locked, what you see (or actually what you don't see) is the result of opera's poor html5 support. The thread was locked before I could answer again, so here goes.

After reading what I said in the other thread (= the one linked on my signature), find how to install chromium's ffmpeg codecs on your fedora installation. I do not use fedora so I could not cover it to on the q&a.

Plus, fedora's package search page isn't really helpful because it can not privide any info for the files inside packages like debian's, ubuntu's and mandriva's do. To be honest, I think you will need a third party repo for that package, because fedora seems kinda strict on how it packages chromium.
We also do something for Linux, that a browser deserves it

Assuming that you have already read the thread about opera on ubuntu 14.04, take some time to read this one too. It talks about opera's poor html5 support in general and what solutions someone has.

Keep in mind though that for opera 50 you will also need chromium codecs 63, which will be really hard to find as a package for your distro.

Happening to me as well, chrome users have reported this since feb 2018, so it annoy us as well. Hoppefully they will fix it.

For now my fix is copy and paste the google link you want to enter(yeah all google services are somehow "softlocked" for me and not reachable from time to time) in internet explorer(yeah.) and then refresh the page in opera. It works for me idk why.

Sorry the last message was not linked to the subject (an other bug)

But I finally found the solution, .local/share/applications/opera.desktop
contains a line which is Exec=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera/opera %U. Without the %U first, I don't know why.

So it finally works, Excuse me for bothering you.

Opera 51 is now working.

I resolved the issue by downloading and installing all updates via the Linux Mint update tool. Obviously there must have been a missing or dated dependency that was resolved with the update.

The installation of Linux Mint 18 was done several months ago, and the machine was put to one side while I used another old box running Antix. A couple of days ago I decided to move to the Mint machine, and just assumed that Opera would install and run, just as it had done in AntiX.

I've just learned the importance of running updates in a timely fashion....

Is it that complicated to use a slightly different build process in order to comply with distribution (at least LTS releases) dependancies?
Branch Ubuntu/Bionic built against libs included there (incl. libcurl4)
Branch Ubuntu/Trusty built against libs included there (incl. libcurl3)
And reflecting that in the hierarchical repository as most other PPAs do well like GIMP or Darktable
