@rh99 No, please, multiple windows are a curse. I can't tell you how many times I forgot I had opened a tab in a new window, closed the main window with dozens of tabs, and Opera happily saved my "one-tab session" for the next time.

@bexik What's important is that other Chrome based browsers offer it now. What Opera did before (a popup in the center of the screen) was way better of course. If they could bring that back all the better.

Opera 12 was the ultimate browser in terms of configurability which drew millions to use it. What they should do is bring back as much as possible while still staying on the Chrome platform as that is what they've chosen. Of course we can also dream for world peace. 🙂

@sgunhouse Thank you....makes sense. Do most email programs (Thunderbird or Outlook for instance as being probably the most popular) offer encryption now? It would be nice for the receiver to just enter a password instead of needing to use the same encryption program to decrypt as it was originally encrypted in.

@donq Actually its called the "gear wheel" I think. I could not believe how comprehensive the options were on the next page! Wow. They still should do it like everyone else. Many people would miss that. When you're in a forum there should be a search box for that particular forum. Then if there are no results they can show results from outside that forum.

@leocg I think you mean maintaining one. Not that Opera Mail doesn't work fairly well right now for non-complex tasks.

You could install https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/new-tab-start-page/mjfahldkpjhcnfbbmdhpjolcjpcfhcpj to override the start page with the URL you want. Then, you can just hit ctrl + t and it'll open that URL.

@rh99 To update you will need to run the installer. Or return to the original file name to reenable the auto update.

Do you have less-secure apps turned on for your Google account? Sometimes they turn it off on you.

Besides that, in Opera Mail, retype your username and password for both servers on the servers tab in the account's properties.

You could also set things up in Thunderbird just as a test. Test with IMAP and make sure you use "Normal Password" authentication instead of OAuth2. Otherwise, you won't be testing with the same settings Opera uses. You can test Thunderbird alongside Opera Mail without interfering.

With Gmail, sent messages are part of the conversation. So, with Gmail IMAP, you have a copy of the sent message from "[Gmail]/All Mail" and a copy of the sent message from "[Gmail]/Sent Mail". Since "Sent Mail" is set as the IMAP sent folder in the account's properties, Opera will treat the copy from "Sent Mail" as a sent message that can be controlled by the "show sent" option for each message list. However, for the other copy that's from "All Mail", as far as Opera is concerned, it's just a received message like any other received message and there for isn't controlled by "Show sent".

To work around this, you can create a label in Opera to match a from header that contains your email address and set the label to "hide these messages from other view". Then, you'll be able to uncheck "show hidden" for each of the views you want to hide the sent copies from "All Mail".

Note that with Gmail IMAP, it's best to not user any of Opera's views in the mail panel except for the "you@gmail.com" access point. Drag that access point so that it's at the top of the mail panel and collapse/hide/ignore everything else. Then, use the Inbox IMAP folder view and other IIMAP folders that represent Gmail labels.
