I see this problem with many browsers. I'll open a bunch of tabs in the background and wait ample time for them to load. When I go to them I get a blank screen for a few seconds then it loads quickly. A few years ago this never happened. It loaded and waited there for you. Nowadays it looks like it needs to refresh itself just before you view it. This is hugely time wasting and is only useful for a site that is constantly changing by the second which almost none do. We're not all hyper stock traders. Is there a solution for this idiocy? Whoever implemented this must be living on another planet. There must be a solution out there.

RE: Is there really no way of searching "Opera for Windows"?Forum feedback
@donq Actually its called the "gear wheel" I think. I could not believe how comprehensive the options were on the next page! Wow. They still should do it like everyone else. Many people would miss that. When you're in a forum there should be a search box for that particular forum. Then if there are no results they can show results from outside that forum.
Anyways, thank you for your patience and knowledge. And hopefully it will help others on there.

RE: What is the best replacement for Opera Mail?Lounge
@jeezara But EM Client is so restrictive. I think it only allows 1 account! If you only have 1 account you might as well use webmail. What about older Outlook? What are the downsides to that? Like from 2003. I've got a copy. But I wonder about security when using older email programs. Of course Opera Mail has been dead for years.

The latest Opera for Windows won't go to any websites now!Opera for Windows
So I download the latest Chromium Opera to try the built in VPN. It works fine for a while but now it won't go anywhere. It won't even open this website! I can navigate in other browsers fine. What to check? Its like suddenly it put up a firewall and blocked everything. ???

RE: Where are settings for default programs? Like .magnet, .torrent?Opera for Windows
@burnout426 Nope. Hence my reason for posting here. I always look for file associations first. Now I just open the torrent program and load it manually. Seems to work. Utorrent was so effortless but it just takes up so much resources with their add-on ieutorrent.exe program (think that's what it was). Used up 50% of my CPU!

@burnout426 Thank you. That is very good advice. When in doubt, check the registry!

"Press F11 to exit full screen mode" How to disable this notification?Opera for Windows
"Press F11 to exit full screen mode" Thanks. As if we didn't know this.
This moronic notification pops up interfering with our ability to read the page for a few seconds. Is there any way of getting rid of this thing? As if we don't know we're in Fullscreen when there is no Menu or Address bar there. Brilliant. Who thinks of this stuff and why are they paid to work?
Surely there is a way of ridding ourselves of this abomination. -

Is there really no edit option on this page? Really? What forum doesn't allow you to edit previous posts????

RE: Have you found Opera Mail audio notifications sporadic?Opera for Windows
@burnout426
Well yeah of course. Not sure what that has to do with audio notifications though. I thought you meant that there was a version of Opera Mail built into the newer Opera browser. -
RE: Have you found Opera Mail audio notifications sporadic?Opera for Windows
What I can't understand is why they discontinued it. It works so well. With a few tweaks they could have made it 100% modern. I prefer it so much over Thunderbird. I used Thunderbird for a while but went back to Opera after putting up with Mozilla's illogical design choices that I found really aggravating. Opera Mail just needs more options, more customization like Thunderbird offers, except with Opera logic. Not the Mozilla's brains in a blender type thinking.

Why hasn't Opera updated their mail program?Opera for Windows
It was so well laid out, so well organized. I still use it though I need to find an updated replacement. Tried Thunderbird but really didn't like the way it was organized though it feels right to use something from a non-profit when it comes to something as important as email where you don't want people seeking financial gain by extracting information from you and selling it. You just don't want that bias. It also has to be free to be private. Of course one can pay with a prepaid credit card bought with cash but its a hassle.

RE: How to edit RSS/news feeds?Opera for Windows
@leocg Thank you. Not sure how I could have possibly missed that. But you'd think they would have a right click/delete option like everyone else uses. Its an industry standard.

Is there any way of making Alt_D work when in FullScreen?
I can't believe this hasn't been fixed yet. Why can't we have some of the logic of Firefox here?

Opera Mail: How to disable "Press ESC to exit Full Screen mode" notification?Opera for Windows
I find working in full screen with Opera Mail very useful at times, especially with long emails. But I often have to switch back and forth in and out of Full Screen mode. Seeing this pointless notification is irritating. Is there any way of getting rid of it? Preferences in Opera Mail are mighty scant!

RE: Opera Mail: How to stop Spam from ending up in my Unread box?Opera for Windows
@burnout426 said in Opera Mail: How to stop Spam from ending up in my Unread box?:
@rh99 Hmm, as long as you have "Show spam" unchecked for "All Messages/Unread" and "All Messages/Received", spam shouldn't show in them.
What mail provider are you using?
I don't see any place in Opera that mentions "Show spam" but I did right click each account in the left column, Customize, to see which box is checked. I unchecked Spam so we'll see how that works. Then I'll cross check that with the webmail account later to see. I did this yesterday and I think it worked. As for my providers there's a bunch. VFEMail, GMX, Yandex, Hotmail are a few. I'm getting spammed at GMX, Hotmail and Yandex. Its much better now though. I'm getting faster at blacklisting domains but its really a shame email providers don't make it a lot easier to just block a domain instead of an individual address which is quite useless as they can change that day to day if they control the domain. The blocking should work through IMAP. Logging into your webmail account is so tedious and time wasting. Clearly they are not addressing spam seriously even though they claim they are.

@burnout426 said in Opera Mail: How to stop Spam from ending up in my Unread box?:
@rh99 With your free Vivaldi account, you also get a mail account with IMAP support and 5GB or storage. There's also a webmail for it at https://webmail.vivaldi.net/.
I can't even get my Vivaldi browser to recognize my Vivaldi email account! I'm waiting to hear back from them about that.
If you're not against Google/Gmail, it handles spam wonderfully and has IMAP support. It also learns from what you add/remove from the IMAP Spam folder. And, there are course filters you can specific on the server at mail.google.com.
I have to use Google/Gmail unfortunately. Opera doesn't seem to work with Yahoo and Google mail. So that would be nice to get those working seamlessly again. Good to hear. I'll have to try Thunderbird again. Hopefully the latest version works with Win7. When are companies going to realize there are a lot of people that choose to use Win7 over 10/11? Maybe 12 will give more user control.

RE: Is there any way of extracting a password from an email account in Opera Mail?Opera for Windows
@burnout426
They never asked for a recovery email address. I know that is common today. But it means you have to open email addresses in pairs which is a hassle.
The search is on for a new email address!
