At the very left of the URL bar a little blue badge says VPN. It shows white for exceptions to using the VPN such as search engines.
The way it worked before:
Click it to get the little menu and turn off the VPN -- it goes white. Click it again to get the little menu to turn it on and choose the region.
Now:
Click it to get the little menu and turn off the VPN --the little badge disappears. I can only get it back by going into options.
Bug or feecher? Or something I can fix with option maybe?

I have more than once had Kaspersky interrupt loading a dodgy page on Opera. Really that's all I need.
However it's true it doesn't have the full functionality it does on Firefox. That is, to report bad sites etc.

Private browsing to hide from what other see makes sense if others have physical access to your computer.
Hiding pr0n use from your boss or the other "boss" at home, for example. Or if you're worried about the government seizing your machine for some reason.
For normal non-sneaky browsing at home alone, it's (for example) great for keeping your YouTube session separate from your other Google activities.
It works, I'd just like it a bit more automatic.

Opera snapshot copies the image to the clipboard.
Is there some method of getting it to dump that immediately to a file without explicitly opening a picture app and pasting?
If you've seen it you know what I'm talking about.

It's what I did before with Brave, but I have definitely switched to Opera as my default browser.
I have used Opera settings quite extensively to determine who is or isn't allowed to use cookies, and a few specific ones automatically to delete on exit, I used my Brave settings as a pattern to follow. It's basic Chrome stuff.
But in general my set up is permissive for primary cookies and not to allow third party cookies.
But every so often I use CCleaner to delete cookies. But with the exception of what I term "business" cookies, which I have listed in CCleaner.
This worked for me just fine with Brave, and with the addition of a few VPN exceptions seems to be going well with Opera so far.
Note that I do not rely on CCleaner for all clean up tasks.
But as long as I'm changing things around a lot right now, I'm interested in hearing about alternative ways to do this, in particular if there is an Opera compatible extension for very selective cookie culling.

My first reaction was that I liked it, but apply it to a YouTube video and then go full screen, the picture lags behind the video just enough to be annoying.
I just noticed on some YouTube videos playing HD full screen, lucid mode causes the picture to lag behind the soundtrack just enough to be annoying.
From now on, off by default and use it sparingly.
A little fiddling and I find the little icon goes away when you go full screen. Well that's something.
I too would like to know. I cannot identify it in the process list.
I'm finding it very good, but is there some way to turn it on and not have that little annoying 'lucid mode on' icon keep flashing on the screen?
I get it about needing making sure one notices the first time, but is there some setting or flag to make it stop?

It's much easier to change browsers (say to Firefox) than to change OSes, and Windows isn't even a Google product. My guess is they are not trying to force you to upgrade, they just don't want to bother about regression testing new features. And after all, Chrome isn't their primary source of revenue.
In my opinion the best way is to have lots of browsers installed and switch around as needed.
For that matter, the obsoleted browsers will still continue to work, at least for a while. So it's not a "crisis" even in the worst case.

Opera VPN in a private window is very slow to respond changing location or turning off and on, since the improved interface.
No such problem in regular windows.
