Advantages of 64-bit browsers over 32-bit64-bit browsers have several advantages over 32-bit browsers, including:
-
More available memory. 64-bit browsers can address up to 18 exabytes of memory, while 32-bit browsers are limited to 4 gigabytes. This means that 64-bit browsers can handle more complex websites and applications that require a lot of memory.
-
Improved performance. 64-bit browsers can use more processor cores to handle tasks, resulting in improved performance.
-
More reliable operation. 64-bit browsers are less prone to errors and crashes than 32-bit browsers.
Here are some specific examples of how 64-bit browsers can be beneficial:
-
Websites with 3D graphics or complex animations can perform better in 64-bit browsers.
-
Web applications that require a lot of data can perform better in 64-bit browsers.
-
Games that run in the browser can perform better in 64-bit browsers.

@korol78 You should be able to just install over the top, but I recommend the following for good measure:
Download the 64-bit installer, goto the URL
opera://about
, take note of the "install" path, close Opera, uninstall Opera (don't choose to delete your data when asked), delete the install folder (it will be left behind with a few things in it), launch the 64-bit installer, click "options", uncheck "import data from default browser", adjust all other options as you like and install. -

@korol78 https://www.opera.com/download#opera-browser. Click the little 64-bit offline package link.

106.0.4998.19 -- https://www.foxsports.com/live/fox-digital#no_universal_links -- In Opera, returns "An error occurred. Please try again later [Error:403]" Works with IE. Turning off ad blocking doesn't solve it. This has gone on for some time. Even had a go around with Fox support about it.

The full browser still keeps randomly going black/white screen and then recovering shortly after. This happens on Windows 10, Windows 11, and on Mac. This has been an on-going regression for several months now.

What's going on? I download the version you recommend - 106.0.4998.19 - for my system (High Sierra 10.13.6) and the installer file won't open because my system doesn't support it! So you have bundled a compatible app with an incompatible installer! I've been messed around for weeks by Opera which keeps relaunching after I quit (even after manually resetting the lists). Is this the end of the road?

Just to add, I get an Opera notification every time I launch my installed 102.0.4880.46 version, telling me to update - but when I look in About Opera it tells me I'm up to date already. So what is the truth? And how do I kill the spurious notifications?

@chappie12345 Chromium stopped supporting MacOS 10.13 and 10.14. Being Opera a Chromium based browser, I guess you will need to have a newer version of the OS (10.15?) to install more recent versions of Opera.

So why all the false messages? Why does my installed version suddenly give me daily notifications about needing to download the latest version? Why does this website falsely report that the latest version is compatible with my operating system? My Os hasn't changed at all in years so all this mayhem has been caused by Opera. I never asked for any Opera updates: they kept coming though until they messed up. Why is it OK to give me grief and waste my time? Very disappointing. Very unprofessional.

@chappie12345 Don't know, maybe there is a newer release for your version?
Regarding the site, maybe it wasn't changed/prepared to check that limitation yet.
