requested by you
I do not know what to say. In terms of the formation of the background image of the tiles, Opera is head and shoulders ahead of all available browsers. But what would be really convenient is the setting "Show the bookmarks bar only on new tabs"

What about DNA-104227?
Was the gpu related crash the reason why Opera doesn't start on Win 8?
Maybe it's fixed internally. -

I can't open contextual menu on tiles. Left click on 3 dots also does not work.

This is funny. By accident I downloadet the 32-bit-setup file and installed it: Opera_Developer_96.0.4660.0_Setup.exe
But it runs. And it shows the right version.

@ralf-brinkmann Why shouldn't it run and show the correct version?

@ralf-brinkmann It shouldn't be a reason for Opera not to run or for the incorrect version to be displayed.

Are these screenshots made on Windows? Will the menu controlls finally getting Mica/Acrylic at last in Windows 10/11?

@ralf-brinkmann: Not seeing anything wrong with your pic. The system field is showing that it's running the 32-bit version of Opera on 64-bit Windows.

@giorgiowest Chromium stopped supporting Windows 7 and 8.1, Opera is checking the possibility of keep giving support for those OS.

Upgrading to this version caused Opera's memory management bug again. This bug makes the tab threads take up ~50% more memory. There may be an increase in the main threads (esp browser & GPU) too.
What's different is that eventually ie after 30 mins, the memory management has worked and everything looks relatively normal again. It would presumably take less than 30 mins if the system wasn't swapping like crazy.
Having used Opera for around 30 years now, I'm very sensitive to such large changes in memory usage. I have little doubt that overwriting the installation with the previous version will fix the problem but I'll hold off for 24 hours in case someone wants to investigate it. I know from previous threads that I'm not the only one with this problem.
