Hiding the sidebar crashes Opera here, also. Looks like you have some serious issues with the sidebar with this initial release of Opera 79 for Stable ... -

@johnd78 But I'm pretty sure that Beta will be released with this bug,
I hope the bug won't reach Stable.
Traditionally I already disabled autoupdates here.
*It seems they don't pay much attention to the blog recently because otherwise 81 version would contain the fix or 81's release would have been delayed. -

opera://about/ Update button Relaunch Now shows up to fast (about 5 to 10 seconds to early)
Why Open the Web?
Despite the connecting purpose of the Web, it is not entirely open to all of its users.
When used correctly, HTML documents can be displayed across platforms and devices.
However, many devices are excluded access to Web content. -

Stop ruin the download manager (the most ignored part of the browser) ... search can't find the files downloaded earlier, can't recognize the image files like .png . You need to return sorting like "finished" "active" and "missing/deleted" . Stop ignore it . Stop making the best browser worse.

Unfortunately in this version the
https://web.whatsapp.com
Shows Page Crashed. So the WhatsApp panel does not work.
In Chrome everything ok. -

@treego: @jozop: @ironbone: sites with media work here on Slackware64 15.0 RC1.
I'm guessing your problem is an outdated ffmpeg plugin since I had a lot of crashes on Opera beta due to this plugin.
I ended up installing a new version of opera-beta-ffmpeg-codecs from https://repo.herecura.eu/herecura/x86_64/
