@airforce25228 It's just an Opera shill covering up for their screw ups. Sometimes I may have about 30-40 tabs open, where you cannot see their names. But it's easier to just click open some in the general area then doing open tabs search. I have always been wondering why this feature was needed. There is an earlier post is this thread that goes deep into exploring why the search in open tabs feature is a useless one.

Hah! Tough crowd! It doesn't steal my Opera Joy, though. Cheers! 🙂

I haven't got time to say all I want to say here right now, so will return.

I didn't use recently closed tabs feature often but there were scenarios where if I had two windows open and by accident shut down my main window first (containing zillions of tabs), I would lose the main window on restart. With that option I could easily restore it.

So I'm now using that extension that was mentioned. But just now I had a crash (or some sort of weird behaviour) and lost everything - pinned tabs and the lot, so back to a blank window essentially.

About two three months ago Opera was almost ideal for my workflow but this and two other changes have introduced serious usability regressions. Tab search is one of them. Despite what's mentioned above it is in principle an excellent feature. (Vivaldi has this as well.)

However, the current implementation is poor and is a speed bump.

I think it is a joke to users to mark this issue as "Solved". Not only the requests of many users for a better usability of Opera are not taken into account, but also these are not respected in this forum.

@avmon There is a solution/response to the request, what is the addition of the show more button to allow viewing more recent closed tabs. The old tabs menu most probably will not return and people could already have learned to deal with it.

@newworldman Here is a well reasoned statement why the closed tabs feature is/was so useful. Compare it with Opera shills' claims how sexy the new search in closed tabs and search in open tabs features are and what a joy it is to work with them. Without giving any substantiations to these claims.

Sure, they have. I personally have switched to Vivaldi.

@mentallymental we all mentioned that it's only a temporary solution. This was discussed in much greater detail in another topic, but our kind moderators have closed it for some reason that they tried to explain, bit it's still not clear to me.
As of now, there's no flag, there's won't ever be a flag, nor will there ever be the same "recently closed" functionality in opera. You can adjust to the sorry substitution that opera have instead, or switch to using some other browser. If you choose option two, the only one that I am aware of is Vivaldi, because it has the exact same feature that got removed from opera.

And by the way, a separate big thanks to the mod that marked it as Solved, and made a miserable attempt to reason why. There is no solution. You closed the other thread, probably because at it was such an eyesore on an official forum as many people posted their dislike and said they're switching to other browsers. And then you essentially take down this thread as well. This is a thread literally asking for a feature. That feature, in its requested form, is not in the application. How come this is "Solved"? Judging by your logic that even though there's no direct solution, but there's something that no one in the thread wants, I suggest you remove the "feature request" part of the forum completely as it's just not making any sense to ask for things and then get different answers marked as "Solved". Bravo opera.

Unfortunately, currently it's pointless asking to bring back the 'recently closed' tabs. It will be better to ask for adding the same functionality that the TabMenu had.
They already returned 'recently closed tabs', in the latest dev build tabs closing functionality was added

The negative moment here is that all the changes happen so sloooowly, and I still don't understand why it was needed to remove the flag, During the time they improving the new popup users could still use the old one if they wish.

Can I just ask how do you know that people are fine with that changes? As you can see there are lots of people complaining about it that its not ok. There was more but you closed that thread for some reason.
So how do you know? You have some data from developers or some survey or something like that?

@airforce25228 I don't know and I don't want/need to know. I just need to know that there is a solution.

@leocg and there's no solution. We can go back and forth on your definition of solution but this case is simple - a confirmation or any response in any form that the feature is or is not in the plan. You stated soooo many times that you're not employed by opera, but somehow you close threads as if you either know more or just don't like them.

It's not a matter not my opinion of it. I think there is no solution yet.

@leocg Maybe it is solution but think about it from the other end. I will give you example. If you are hungry and I will give you poisoned food will you accept it as solution to your hunger? Its just matter of perspective. Technically it is solution but on what cost?

'solved' in this particular case would be actual if they'd really brought the
recently closed tabs' back or if there was an opportunity to switch it off with the help of corresponding flag.
*Or the name of topic should be different, 'TabMenu alternative' for example, then every extension from the store that undo closed tabs will look as 'solved'.

Don't bother, there's no one to talk to. The absence of the feature is one thing, but a moderator that basically taunts people is a whole other level.

@airforce25228 For me the solution they gave is valid. You have the new tabs search feature and you have the recently closed tabs list.

I know. That's why I suggest not to ask to bring it back, but request the Search Tabs popup's functionality to be as close to the previous TabMenu as it possible.
