There has always been this feature which was the very thing why I have used opera over the years. This has been the button on the top right near the "minimise" button, where ll the current are recently closed tabs were listed. It is gone. So is the need to use Opera ever again.
Thank you Opera.

RE: Where is the "Recently closed tabs/Tab menu" button on the top right?Opera for computers
@sgunhouse I find it ridiculous to be honest.
I myself am a developer, and whenever there's a feature that's being retired, there's always a sane and valid reason to do so, it is also explained thoroughly to the user why it has been done so. Since this was a feature for ease-of-use, it has been moved for no apparent reason. In the end, the quality and easy of use has degraded regardless of one's view - instead of making one click to access closed tabs (because not always do we need the last one), we now have to make additional movements and clicks. What's more, it's not placed far from tabs, where it was previously placed and felt natural.
Had to roll back and disable auto-update. Thank you very much for forcing me to tick to older versions because of no apparent reason.I am very disappointed in how opera turned out to be, especially considering why so many of us have used it since version 9 and even before that.

[Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the rightSuggestions and feature requests
This was a very convenient feature. Doing the same through History is not only long and tedious, but distracting and is a lot more movement to do.

RE: Where is the "Recently closed tabs/Tab menu" button on the top right?Opera for computers
@leocg Well isn't this fantastic....
Thanks for mentioning this.
I wonder at which point will opera realise that changes in things that only opera has are simply driving users away.... Without this feature, the process is the same in chrome, or Firefox or even IE.
I really wish that that person wro removed the feature is forever stuck trying to quickly reopen a a couple of tabs that he closed. -
RE: Where is the "Recently closed tabs/Tab menu" button on the top right?Opera for computers
@leocg Which is idiotic. The feature was sound, it was one of the things that set opera apart from the competition and now it's replaced by something that is of no real value. It's use cases are questionable.
Thanks you, opera developers! Ruined the browser. Continue down this path and you'll lose what's left of your fanbase.

RE: [Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the rightSuggestions and feature requests
As pointed by @burnout426
you can diasble the following flag:
Goto the URL opera://flags/#search-in-open-tabs, disable the flag, and restart Opera. -

@burnout426 Thank you so much!!!!!!

RE: [Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the rightSuggestions and feature requests
@acerswap It has been pointed out to me that this flag thing might only be a temporary solution. For all we know, they might remove the feature completely at some point.
It's obviously ridiculous, and unfortunate. -
RE: Where is the "Recently closed tabs/Tab menu" button on the top right?Opera for computers
@maheshdm Yep, they removed the button. You can temporarily turn it back with a flag, but this is a feature that opera's management has slated for removal.
Looks like someone in management isn't quite....erm....the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to identifying and evaluating distinctive features that set opera apart from the competition. -
RE: [Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the rightSuggestions and feature requests
People, it makes absolutely no difference whether or not flags are settings.
The point is that the situation is as follows: for some reasons that are beyond me opera has decided to remove the feature from it. As I understand, some features are retained after their removal through a flag. That is Temporary. Next version removes the flag completely, as the code for the feature most probably.
Now, if anyone would like it, they could try and stop opera from updating and keep this feature at the obvious cost of not receiving updates to other features and the core app. It's up to you. Personally, I have done so and I'll see what alternative might come up in the future.I do appreciate, however, that so many of you responded to this thread. This means that this feature will be missed dearly by so many.

@andrew84 said in [Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the right:
'solved' in this particular case would be actual if they'd really brought the
recently closed tabs' back or if there was an opportunity to switch it off with the help of corresponding flag.
*Or the name of topic should be different, 'TabMenu alternative' for example, then every extension from the store that undo closed tabs will look as a 'solved'.Don't bother, there's no one to talk to. The absence of the feature is one thing, but a moderator that basically taunts people is a whole other level.

@ericartman92 Yes, there is a solution, no matter if you like it or not.
It's not a matter not my opinion of it. I think there is no solution yet.

RE: [Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the rightSuggestions and feature requests
@leocg and there's no solution. We can go back and forth on your definition of solution but this case is simple - a confirmation or any response in any form that the feature is or is not in the plan. You stated soooo many times that you're not employed by opera, but somehow you close threads as if you either know more or just don't like them.

RE: [Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the rightSuggestions and feature requests
And by the way, a separate big thanks to the mod that marked it as Solved, and made a miserable attempt to reason why. There is no solution. You closed the other thread, probably because at it was such an eyesore on an official forum as many people posted their dislike and said they're switching to other browsers. And then you essentially take down this thread as well. This is a thread literally asking for a feature. That feature, in its requested form, is not in the application. How come this is "Solved"? Judging by your logic that even though there's no direct solution, but there's something that no one in the thread wants, I suggest you remove the "feature request" part of the forum completely as it's just not making any sense to ask for things and then get different answers marked as "Solved". Bravo opera.

RE: [Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the rightSuggestions and feature requests
@mentallymental we all mentioned that it's only a temporary solution. This was discussed in much greater detail in another topic, but our kind moderators have closed it for some reason that they tried to explain, bit it's still not clear to me.
As of now, there's no flag, there's won't ever be a flag, nor will there ever be the same "recently closed" functionality in opera. You can adjust to the sorry substitution that opera have instead, or switch to using some other browser. If you choose option two, the only one that I am aware of is Vivaldi, because it has the exact same feature that got removed from opera. -
RE: [Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the rightSuggestions and feature requests
@primoz I agree with you. I don't think typing is faster or better or more accurate.
In case of the accidentally closed tab, mouse is definitely faster.
In case if it's random characters or the page caption is in a different language, I don't even have that language on my keyboard layout, so I can't type that. -
RE: [Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the rightSuggestions and feature requests
@leocg And the other thread with many more opinions and viable options for people was what exactly if not a place to discuss the feature?

RE: [Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the rightSuggestions and feature requests
Isn't it nice that the following words are on the Opera for windows main page:
"Capable
The most useful and requested features are already built into the Opera browser."How ironic that the most requested feature is now taken out and the moderator has locked the discussion on that thread.....

@azrael78 I'm an adult and can admit my mistakes. I just try to show that you already have that feature. It just moved to another place. And you can use it in a new way. Or you can continue to moan. It's your choice.
The "same feature, but in a different place and in a different form" is, by definition, not the same feature.
We are all very happy that the new feature suits you well. Unfortunately, it doesn't work for us as we want it to. -

@ericartman92 When some developer really do something for users then its by accident not by porpouse. And it doesnt matter who deside what will change and what not if you call them developers, stackholder, designers whatever... if users complain about somethig then "developers" should at least listen and make some statement about it!
Also in this case its make no sence because no one want that serch useless feature and all want that recently closed tabs button. Its essencial Operas feature from the very beginning and there is no reason to change or delete it. Also no one wanted that!
You "developers" just dont listen to users and just dont know what word "NO" mean. You have some brain issue about that "NO" world or something. I wonder if you (now I mean specifically you) as developer ever change/revert something just because users say they didnt like it. And by this I mean you change it back just how it was.I cannot say for absolutely every single developer, but believe me, we do listen and it's one of the things that really can make your day, or break it. Don't forget that for the most, the software that we're making is just as close as a hand-built house is to someone who built it. The difference is that the majority of work is done for a comparatively specific target audience or consumers, whereas software is often presented to anyone willing to try and it really is impossible to please everyone.
Nevertheless, I still maintain that the decision to remove this feature is moronic to say the least, however I don't appreciate your accusatory tone and the generalisations, especially the "brain issue" part. Please stay civil.
And no, I don't revert stuff just for the fun of it, but there are people that can tell you to do so even if it's idiotic and one has to oblige.
