There has always been this feature which was the very thing why I have used opera over the years. This has been the button on the top right near the "minimise" button, where ll the current are recently closed tabs were listed. It is gone. So is the need to use Opera ever again.
Thank you Opera.

RE: Where is the "Recently closed tabs/Tab menu" button on the top right?Opera for computers
@sgunhouse I find it ridiculous to be honest.
I myself am a developer, and whenever there's a feature that's being retired, there's always a sane and valid reason to do so, it is also explained thoroughly to the user why it has been done so. Since this was a feature for ease-of-use, it has been moved for no apparent reason. In the end, the quality and easy of use has degraded regardless of one's view - instead of making one click to access closed tabs (because not always do we need the last one), we now have to make additional movements and clicks. What's more, it's not placed far from tabs, where it was previously placed and felt natural.
Had to roll back and disable auto-update. Thank you very much for forcing me to tick to older versions because of no apparent reason.I am very disappointed in how opera turned out to be, especially considering why so many of us have used it since version 9 and even before that.

[Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the rightSuggestions and feature requests
This was a very convenient feature. Doing the same through History is not only long and tedious, but distracting and is a lot more movement to do.

RE: Where is the "Recently closed tabs/Tab menu" button on the top right?Opera for computers
@leocg Well isn't this fantastic....
Thanks for mentioning this.
I wonder at which point will opera realise that changes in things that only opera has are simply driving users away.... Without this feature, the process is the same in chrome, or Firefox or even IE.
I really wish that that person wro removed the feature is forever stuck trying to quickly reopen a a couple of tabs that he closed. -
RE: Where is the "Recently closed tabs/Tab menu" button on the top right?Opera for computers
@leocg Which is idiotic. The feature was sound, it was one of the things that set opera apart from the competition and now it's replaced by something that is of no real value. It's use cases are questionable.
Thanks you, opera developers! Ruined the browser. Continue down this path and you'll lose what's left of your fanbase.

RE: [Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the rightSuggestions and feature requests
As pointed by @burnout426
you can diasble the following flag:
Goto the URL opera://flags/#search-in-open-tabs, disable the flag, and restart Opera. -

@burnout426 Thank you so much!!!!!!

RE: [Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the rightSuggestions and feature requests
@acerswap It has been pointed out to me that this flag thing might only be a temporary solution. For all we know, they might remove the feature completely at some point.
It's obviously ridiculous, and unfortunate. -
RE: Where is the "Recently closed tabs/Tab menu" button on the top right?Opera for computers
@maheshdm Yep, they removed the button. You can temporarily turn it back with a flag, but this is a feature that opera's management has slated for removal.
Looks like someone in management isn't quite....erm....the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to identifying and evaluating distinctive features that set opera apart from the competition. -
RE: [Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the rightSuggestions and feature requests
People, it makes absolutely no difference whether or not flags are settings.
The point is that the situation is as follows: for some reasons that are beyond me opera has decided to remove the feature from it. As I understand, some features are retained after their removal through a flag. That is Temporary. Next version removes the flag completely, as the code for the feature most probably.
Now, if anyone would like it, they could try and stop opera from updating and keep this feature at the obvious cost of not receiving updates to other features and the core app. It's up to you. Personally, I have done so and I'll see what alternative might come up in the future.I do appreciate, however, that so many of you responded to this thread. This means that this feature will be missed dearly by so many.

RE: Where is the "Recently closed tabs/Tab menu" button on the top right?Opera for computers
When I started this thread I did think so many people would voice their opinions - thank you all very much!!!
Now, opera decision making people, perhaps the amount of feature requests here would be enough to start you thinking about bringing the feature back.
To everyone here - thank you again, but given opera's track record, I doubt they'll listen.
I very much hope I'm proven wrong about it! -
RE: Where is the "Recently closed tabs/Tab menu" button on the top right?Opera for computers
I am very disappointed by how the moderation of this thread is done. Regardless of what opinion each of us has, I don't think it warrants such a condescending approach from our moderator. A bit disappointed in how this all business turned out to be.

RE: Where is the "Recently closed tabs/Tab menu" button on the top right?Opera for computers
@leocg What a lousy example of "staying civilised". My opinion is that calling someone a "Spoiled child" is by no means civilised. I know you said that moderators can take sides, and, frankly, we can all see that very clearly, thank you very much, but that doesn't mean anyone has the moral high-ground to call out someone else because they think their "problem" isn't "exactly the end of the world".

RE: [Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the rightSuggestions and feature requests
I never thought this thread would find so many people that miss this feature. Let's hope our opinions are heard by the people making the decisions, although we all know the chances are pretty slim.
Anyway, what people seem to forget when saying "why do you even need to have many tabs" is
a) we might not have them all open, but we go through a lot of them. My personal work is somewhat related to research and I go though many web pages and I do need to go back to a closed one, or check which one I closed and so on. I think what we initially had was a very solid feature with a very normal and relatable use case to it. In my view, it should not have been removed, but, alas, it has.
b) honestly, I find it quite arrogant that people tell others that "the feature had no use and it's right that they removed it". It is obviously irrational, since it did in fact have use, as proven by the number of people complaining about its removal.I am sad that opera had made these decisions, I can't demand an explanation from them, but as a software developer, they could have at least told us in a sentence or two how the workflow should now be, or of they have an alternative in the making and we need to wait.

RE: Where is the "Recently closed tabs/Tab menu" button on the top right?Opera for computers
@drjpt1712 No option that's as easy as it was. Now you're expected to go into History and look for that closed tab. Absolutely inconvenient.

RE: [Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the rightSuggestions and feature requests
@leocg And the other thread with many more opinions and viable options for people was what exactly if not a place to discuss the feature?
-
RE: Where is the "Recently closed tabs/Tab menu" button on the top right?Opera for computers
@andrew84 good idea to keep two settings separate. Now, if only someone would listen....
-
RE: Where is the "Recently closed tabs/Tab menu" button on the top right?Opera for computers
@123ms long story short - they won't bring it back. You can read a bit through this thread for some other possible options.

RE: [Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the rightSuggestions and feature requests
@superduper said in Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the right:
@ericartman92 This is exactly what I wanted to ask. For a while Opera seemed to quit doing stupid things, but it looks like they are at it again.
Exactly. The problem is that many features are really useful, many are unique to opera, the presence of many is pinnacle of reasons why some use this particular browser.
Opera is moving from being a browser that can do so many separate different things to one that has questionable looks and is as tailored to a simple majority as it can be.
The real fanbase is dwindling when it comes to those that use opera for more than ten years and still love it for what it once was. -
RE: Remove/Hide SidebarFuture releases
Seems odd that the devs haven't thought of this. For all we know, the next update might bring a new bar in the centre of the screen with no way of removing it as well...
Reverting to the previous version.
