So much hype around the new tab placement...

*If doing some accent on the tabs count box (personally, I'd prefer doing more accents on islands top body like previously), it would be obvious to transform the box into 'new tab in island' button on mouse hover. Instead of the small circle appearing catching somewhere at the bottom.

And in overall, if the color schemes are applied for vertical mode, why the same way is missed in case of horizontal tabs.

After enabling the new tab placement, topup windows are hard to close due to the change of "close" button I think.

Also, you can also think when the user hover on the tab, it can get bigger. This might me intertvine with the sidebar, so you can give this feature to the users that closed that feature.

Overall, it is an interesting way of use the engine. Well done!

Many thanks for adding the option to keep the New Tab button on the bottom of vertical tabs plus open new tabs at the bottom. You nailed it in your original implemenation, and the new "wrong" 🙂 default was driving me nuts! 🙂

soo the one problem i have with the vertical tabs... it leaves the top bar withvery little space to grab onto to move the window around. i have two screens and often move my windows around.

@Marys-Drahin - I was noticing this also, but I found that (unless you have the tabs minimized) you can grab in the top section of the tab bar. See green hatch area in my screenshot.image_2026-09-12_134104345.png

@crmonroe: a bit less intuitive but it is a way at least thank you!

Am I the only one who prefers the old look of the vertical tabs? The new ones feel a bit too big and visually distracting. The tab count indicator is way too noticeable and takes away from the clean look, and the tab group colors seem much more washed out now. I really liked how simple and subtle the old design was.

@marys-drahin: one i also noticed when you have it minimised there is a bit of space around the same buttone where you can grab it. that area seems to be the only area you can reliably grab the window. unless you want to mess with the pixel or 2 above and below the adress bar. which only seems to work if the window isn't maximised

I have just tried the reversed order of tabs and I love it! I didn't know that I really need it until I tried it. I also like that vertical tabs are more toned down.

It would be interesting to be able to customize the position of the vertical tab strip—choosing between the left or right side. Personally, I find it more intuitive to have it on the right.
