In this new update all my search engines and shortcuts stay there. I'm happy this problem was solved.

I'm experiencing the auto update loop issue, it shows downloading process but after relaunching it updates again and again.

@andrew84 So I used the offline installer. But after relaunching the 'Google translate' extension (https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/google-translate/) become corrupted and I can't repair/install it anymore.

There are more and more GX"s flags appearing in regular Opera.
So it tells me that the regular version is really some mixed product and it suffers a lot from the 'gaming' browser conception.

                Flags Reset Fix

Memory saver is still visible in Settings despite of being in default disabled state.

                  Noticed that too.

@andrew84 A lot of times if you relaunch to update and it doesn't show the new version, you can restart Opera before Opera starts fetching the update again and Opera will then update no problem.

Great. Now the regular Opera will be also affected by 'crypto' browser, not only by the GX.
(https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/2024/02/opera-delists-the-experimental-crypto-browser/) because starting from March 14th, Opera will no longer continue supporting the Crypto Browser with updates

So it will be some even more mixed product: Regular + GX + Crypto. Why you doing this?

@andrew84 For the update loop, in your case, is your Opera Developer a current user or all user or USB install and what is the exactly install folder path?

Also, have you touched anything in the install folder (deleted or renamed and files/folders)?

Also, do you (or did you during the update) still have launcher.exe in the install folder? And, if so, was your shortcuts and taskbar icon pointing to it or opera.exe? (Fresh installations don't have launcher.exe anymore.)

@burnout426 I fixed it already by using the offline installer.

I didn't touch anything, I don't use the Developer version for browsing at all so it stays in its default installed state.

I have the launcher.exe in the install folder

                            desktop's shortcut points to opera.exe

But I use taskbar's icon to launch opera. I didn't find yet a way to check the path for taskbar icon. But I don't remember I changed something regarding the shortcuts, it's in default state most probably.
                            edit:
I've found that taskbar icon also points to opera.exe.

edit2: but the screenshots are after using the offline installer.

@andrew84 This is Bug DNA-115297. Watch for the fix in the changelog. Once you have the build with the fix, when it autoupdates, it should be less likely that you'll get an update loop.

However, until then (or after that if you still encounter it for some reason), to break the loop, after Opera says it's updated, don't click the relaunch button. Instead, close Opera, wait 5 to 10 seconds and then start Opera.

(I usually watch for my hard drive activity light on my laptop to stop before clicking relaunch anyway. That's usually a good indicator that things are really ready.)
