@m1-c2: Hello, this is the developer of the addon. We do NOT have any adware/malware inside the extension. There have been no updates since the initial publish date of Last update
Aug. 28, 2020 and the only feature this extension has = adblock + allows you to replay your favorite youtube videos.Let me check and see why WinDefender is flagging this extension.

@free-simple-apps: hello, emm, my windefender also detected a trojan with its extension, could you at least tell me how to remove the trojan?

@blacksay: If you're worried, just uninstall the extension for now. I'm trying to get Microsoft to review this extension and remove the malware flag because its a false positive.

@spike-spk: The extension hasnt been updated for 1 year+, I'm in the process of contacting Microsoft to review this software again to get the false positive flag removed.

@blacksay: Could you upload a screenshot of the false positive flag? I checked it on virustotal.com and the only flag I get is from https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/037ffbd101eb4690136ecd3abdd7346af59935c6b0c1beeb8b259107dcc04296?nocache=1 Ad-Aware , and Not Windows Defender

@free-simple-apps I'm wondering ... there is another extension with almost the same name (Adblocker for Youtube xideos) here which people are reporting as malicious. Ask posters to make sure which of the two they have.

@spike-spk: Hello, this false positive flag has been removed.
The detection has been removed. Please follow the steps below to clear cached detections and obtain the latest malware definitions.
- Open command prompt as administrator and change directory to c:\Program Files\Windows Defender
- Run “MpCmdRun.exe -removedefinitions -dynamicsignatures”
- Run "MpCmdRun.exe -SignatureUpdate"
Alternatively, the latest definition is available for download here: https://docs.microsoft.com/microsoft-365/security/defender-endpoint/manage-updates-baselines-microsoft-defender-antivirus

Using it now, having previously used it on another Chromium based browser.
Seems to be working OK, including playing nice with Opera's built in ad blocker.

@passenger-chi Don't use opera's built-in ad blocker. Like many ad blockers, certain companies pay Opera to whitelist their ads, as well as it slows down your browser a ton while collecting your data to then sell to more third parties. Don't use opera's built-in shitware ad blocker. the only reason to use opera is the extensions and (if it will even work for you anymore) The Flow. take advantage of the huge selection of extensions available to you.

OK. Seeing how it goes with AdBlock Plus default filters alone.
I'll report back whether it makes for quicker response and still not letting in bad stuff.
FWIW, Opera is not my default browser for business and I primarily use it for the VPN. So I'm less bothered about the potential privacy hit.

@passenger-chi: True, personally I find their "VPN" (actually a lazily made proxy) doesn't really do much at all, doesn't work almost at all anymore anyway for what I could swear it used to do, slows down my connection/app a ton, and ofc steals my data

It's definitely not a real-o true-lo VPN, but it's just enough privacy for me for recreational purposes.
If a government were after me, I'd use something else.
