For recent releases strange things keeps changing inside browser and we - users - don't get proper explanation why you - Opera team - remove some features or changes currently working and well accepted features.

      1. No so long ago "Extension" button appeared on toolbar's extensions side. Do we need this? It just taking space (I don't see option to disable it). We have access to extensions from Menu button, from sidebar, from keyboard shortcut.
      2. This new "Search" button. Okay, this feature could be helpful, but why Opera team did throw previous Tabs button to trash and replaced it with half-assed implementation ("Recently closed")?
      3. Some sync problems are still not solved i.e. Tabs button on sidebar keeps appearing and disappearing without any clear reason. As one of the mods did write "Type ://activity or just have luck". Do we need luck for feature to work? Really?
      4. Popup video. It's really nice feature, but we didn't get explanation why popup v1.0 was replaced by slightly inferior v2.0 i.e. newer version don't show captions on YouTube, and newer version sometimes has problems with reacting to mouse clicks on buttons (sometimes I must click few times on close button to close popup)

And these are only few issues.

There are some great features that keeps with Opera like:

      • News feed (I really like how it looks and is served to user)
      • Integrated messengers widgets are cool
      • Recent Workspaces are great too

this Sync button is/was broken for many year. Here's my post about it from 2 years ago

That's another one reason why many users are missing TabMenu. If I understood it right, the button was always visible there.

@andrew84 If you're using sync feature it should be visible (at least after logging-in to Opera's sync service).
But as I can see in newer version of Opera (with sidebar settings button) you can enable/disable visibility of Tabs button so you should also check sidebar settings if Tabs button is set to visible.
But I don't know if visibility of this options depends on connecting with Opera's sync service (like in case from the post I made 2 years ago)

@szczepanson 3 ) Tabs icon on sidebar appears when there are synced opened tabs to be shown. So it depends on sync.

            4 ) It was explained.

@leocg 3) Okay, I'll observe situation. Back in a day (when I posted about this problem) this didn't helped (I use both my laptop and desktop on same day on daily basis and most of the pages are different and it was hit-or-miss for Tabs button to appear on sidebar)

              1. Was it in one of the post on blog? If some I must've missed it. If you can, could you give me a link to reasoning of why video popup works like this? (no sarcasm or trolling, I'm really interested)

Beside these 2 issues we didn't get proper explanation why "Recently closed" feature was so hammered down in terms of usefulness (3 tabs are really small number).

@szczepanson It was in a comment. I'll try to find it. If I remember correctly, it was due to Chromium changes.

Regarding tabs menu, it's been a while that they were trying to get rid it. Some time ago, it didn't even show up if the user didn't open a certain number of tabs.

@szczepanson the original pop out was freezing because of some changes in Chromium and they replaced it with the Chromium's default one. https://forums.opera.com/post/190672
There quite many changes were made already if comparing it with how it looks in other Chromium browsers, but some things are still missed: size and position are still restored each time after tabs closing, no video title, can't pause/play by clicking on a video, and some other)

@andrew84 @leocg Okay, thanks for explanation. I hope Opera team will improve video popup (if it's possible). It's really useful despite not being the best productive feature in my case (especially in work hours) 😄

Looks like it's more than possible, in Yandex browser the popup is much more advanced https://forums.opera.com/post/214796
They(Opera) just stopped improving it at some point for some reason.

Hello, unfortunately the development team decided to remove this feature that for me was excellent. Very sad and disappointed.

I'm using an extension. The best I found was this:

                              Bad update.
Where is the "recently closed tabs"? I can't enable it on flags anymore.

@wagnerfilho89: I will try that extension because what Opera is doing is bullshit.
I will probably migrate to another browser because these features they are removing are what made them good.

Seriously, at first you change Quick switch between tabs to uselessly show only like 6 tabs, not to mention it crashes the opera 20% of times.

And now you remove the Recently closed tabs that was priceless when listing and comparing lots of stuff and needing to reopen something you thought you would not need anymore. Really grateful, thanks.

The only reason I stay with this crap development for years are the mouse movement commands, hope you will remove them too soon.
