No Luck even I rebuild a solid new email account from scratch, import mails as per the procedures........etc. You can see the import progress is working.

Just no where I can see any of the imported mail appears in M2.

I closed / Re-open Opera I can see during re-open., the usual Opera loading mails delay with loading mail progress bar at left bottom panel. So it proofs some mails are in the directory but it just can appear from any of the view.

I’ve had the same problem on macOS 26 with Opera. Here’s what helped me:

Sign out and back in to your Opera account.

Check sync settings under Settings → Browser → Synchronization. Make sure the data types you want to sync are selected.

If you’re using a sync passphrase, try resetting it via Opera’s account page.

On Mac, some users fixed it by removing “Opera Safe Storage” from Keychain Access and restarting Opera.

If none of these steps work, the easiest way forward is to reach out to Opera support. They can give advice tailored to your setup and help get your sync working properly again.

I wanted to try Opera again on my ubuntu (vanilla, i.e. gnome) linux box, but came across an issue just as described here:

No direct reply is possible there, as that issue has been "locked" -- without any solution offered.
So it's a pretty old problem but it seems unaddressed.
I'm not going to use one browser instead of another at the cost of having to change my workflow -- which I don't believe would be something any experienced, productive user is prepared to do just on a whim.
So, uninstalled -- and reversed my advice to colleagues to also try Opera.
But I'll keep an eye out on this forum in case anything moves on this matter.

Good point having separate versions can sometimes make sense if they serve very different user groups. It’s a bit like how big into energy labubu box gives a unique experience for its fans instead of just adding small extras to the regular line.

NTL used to be one of the two main cable companies in the United Kingdom (the other being Telewest).
They merged and were rebranded as Virgin Media quite a few years ago, but there must be many people still using their legacy e-mail addresses.

My Windows 10 version is 1709 (Fall Creators Update), so it should have the capability.

Unfortunately the flags had no effect and still couldn't use the hardware capabilities. What I noticed is that when the video is in full screen, the GPU Processing usage is significantly reduced and the Video Processing increases to numbers close to Google Chrome.

What I can be sure is that hardware decoding capabilities exist and work on both Windows 10 and Xubuntu 17.10, they only aren't being used.

Regarding audio difference on Xubuntu, the best word I could find to define the sound is "muffled". I have noticed this difference on every file with audio encoded using opus. To encode I use, for example:
ffmpeg -i INPUT -acodec libopus -application audio -b:a 320k -vbr on -f ogg -flags +global_header OUTPUT
This is very noticeable with high frequency sound, some instruments become completely inaudible. Maybe a voice optimization which degrades sound fidelity?

public wifi sign-on page doesn't load automatically/at all, so I use Firefox for that

Do you mean data on your own computer (cache, site data, passwords, bookmarks) or Synced data?

Cache data expires after a certain time, as do cookies - not certain about other site data. Passwords and bookmarks should keep forever - well, as long as you don't change the computer or OS. Synced data... I haven't seen anything official, but I suppose after several years they might close the account for inactivity.
Opera won’t scroll, Firefox will.
