  What would make you think that? :awww: That's absolutely something I'd be interested in. However, I'm assuming much of it is proprietary and not going to be shared with me. I do, conceptually, understand compression techniques and predictive modeling, so I strongly suspect that the parts I'd be interested in are quite likely to not be the parts shared. But, rest assured, I'm (for one) very interested in the technical details. I find stuff like that fascinating.

  Anyhow, "Darek" is a mason, judging by the hammer he's carrying. But, if anyone else is curious, there's a White Paper about Turbo located here.

  It doesn't get into the technical details either. I am on the road and often using my home computer by way of VNC. I've already got some compression and being able to compress it a bit more is always interesting. Thus my interest in the subject.

  If there are some non-proprietary bits you'd like to share... Well, I'm all ears. :sherlock: I do wish I could use Turbo with SurfEasy installed BUT not turned on. If SurfEasy is installed and enabled Turbo doesn't work, of course. However, even if it is installed but not turned on then it doesn't work. At any rate, no complaints with the beta build. It's stable as a rock, it usually is.

  New build - Opera developer 35.0.2064.0, the change log, and the announcement 😉

  Highlights: this release is more an improvement one. So, along with a few usability and stability fixes, it delivers:

  Mute tab improvements

  Added “Mute other tabs” and fixed the lack of context menu on pinned tab with media (thanks xirit64!).

  Simple settings improvements

  As per users’ amassed negative feedback, we have removed the ad-blocking section from the “Basic” settings.

  Windows 10 improvements - this is another iteration of the frame color awareness feature on Windows 10:

  – the window frame got improved contrast,

  – control menu items look better on active and hover,

  – you can control the window frame look via the Personalization system controls,

  – the changes are visible on all Windows 10 versions, not only Threshold 2.

  

  Known issues: we have encountered a sudden regression in Linux builds – renderer crashes when trying to play H264 video. We are working to fix it as soon as possible.

  In this release, Chromium has been updated to 48.0.2564.10.

  It came out more as a complaint than questions. Anyway can internal pages have status "complete" on browser start?
  Can internal pages have tab.favIconUrl undefined instead of url to unaccessible theme resource?
  And lastly I hope soon the media icon API will be available.

  So, no way to change the default Opera string? Or change the "g" to another search engine? We certainly should be able to change that to get the results we want. After all - that is the whole point of baking searches into the browser.

  Well shoot - I've installed/reinstalled flash many times trying to get it to work over the last few months.

  I did the same thing just now - and danged if it didn't start working. beats me why it would work this time. Clearly did something different.

  New update - Opera stable 33.0.1990.115, the change log, and the announcement 😉

  "We applied a few stability and UX fixes in this build, and the highlights for the release include:

  * DNA-45200 [Extensions] No permissions messages

  This is a fix for extensions installing – now after you’ll install one, the list of permissions should be complete.

  * DNA-45037 [Engine] Never save password does not work

  This one fixes the “never save password for this site” sliding toolbar selection.

  * DNA-45669 Unable to install extension from file

  Extensions can now be installed manually.

  Chromium is updated to version 46.0.2490.86.

  "Even though this version is technically O34, we are already in O35 cycle. Public developer versions will be upgraded to O35 next week, together with chromium version.

  Since "winter is coming", we are preparing for it. In the Opera 35 cycle we are working on:

  Simple settings section

  The most common settings are all together on one page.

  Further downloads improvements

  Opera should ask you if you really want to close it and stop currently ongoing download.

  

  Sync

  Annoying duplicates creation should finally be solved in this cycle.

  Easier way to turn bookmarks bar on/off

  Currently this setting is so hidden that many users complain we don't have bookmarks bar at all.

  Something we internally call "Mute me baby"

  A way to easier kill annoying sound from the browser.

  

  Address bar on-click UI suggestions

  Add a way to display only speed dials there.

  Move News to Speed Dial

  Place News below the SD tiles. This is initial version, there are UI glitches and lack of your own sources addition. You can expect more enhancements to come.

  We do not promise that any of this will hit final in O35, or hit it ever at all. Some of these are already turned on by default in this developer release, some are behind the opera:flags, and some are available only as whiteboards mockups."

  I completely forgot about this thread. This is not needed anymore because since opera version 32, when I call chrome.windows.getCurrent from a sidebar, it finally gives me current windowId instead of Id from active window. I always wondered why it always gave me the wrong Id, that's why i asked for this feature from sidebar's API, but it must have been a bug.
  So it's solved and thread can be closed 🙂

  Check with extensions disabled if you are using any. Do the same with firewall and AV.

  Is your network connected directly to your machine? There is some delay to establish the (wi-fi) connection on my machines - but only a few seconds. After that, if Sync is enabled Opera will be doing that - again usually just a few seconds. Extensions? Some of those do their own update checks or synchronization. Try disabling sync or a few extensions and see if it makes much difference.

  No, people don't own anything to anyone, if they are using opera developer.

  If someone is using an alpha version of a software (and developer builds are alpha versions of Opera) then s/he should, at least, knows what they are doing and the consequences of it. And also where and how to find info about new releases and its issues.

  Haha, "don't add bookmarks", you're killing me with your hilarious jokes.

  Good to know that you realized that it was a joke i did (or tried to).

  For now you will need to move the bookmark to the folder you want.

  I hope you realize, that messing around with firewalls is total bullcrap, and it shouldn't be so hard to just turn off the damn updates.

  Blocking the autoupdater using the firewall is only one of the options, you can use the others.

  And I don't understand, why is it so hard to make a checkbox in the browser options that turns off the updates.

  It's probably not that hard but they don't seem to want to do it.

  One reason i can think for it is: users will block the updates and forget about it. Then they will start to have issues because of new things being added to the web sites and will start reporting those issues already solved on a recent version of Opera. And dealing with those reports cost time and money for Opera.

  Imho ("forced") autoupdates will be the default in the future. Even Windows is going this way.

  can it be in both places?

  many times I have closed 100 tabs at once and then a moment later wanted to bring back one that isn't in the 10 listed.

  sometimes the tab list isn't wide enough to show me enough of a page title to tell it apart from others with similar page titles.

  I've checked here and here and even with the flag #disable-npapi set to disable, Java doesn't run.

  I guess it means one of the following:

  It's a bug; Their patch no long works with Chromium 47; Support was already removed but flag removal is missing
