Sure sorry...My '33 installed just fine and runs solid. Windows Seven.

I do run with NO A/V and Sandboxie 4.20... I disable the sandbox when installing a program, then re-start S/B...and 'no worries'...

Hope it works for you.

PS: opera automatically updates itself (HOW DO I TURN THAT OFF BTW?), so today (atleast) I was using the latest developer 33 version, and ctrl+shift+T wasn't working untill I tried to reset the hotkeys (that is 100%)

To get to properties in the taskbar icon right click on it then in the window that opens right click on the Opera icon the properties will show up to click on there

When i updated from 12 to somewhat 25-27 i did it for the whole purpose to receive updates again. Shall i forever be stuck on 30 now (which compared to 12 still lacks fundamental content)? With the defaultpartnercontent.json changes they confirmed my fears, that they wanna stick with their default search mentality. I have used "y" for my youtube search since ... well probably since youtube existed (or opera introduced the search engine feature). And now i must change my search hotkeys, cause opera tells me "No, y is for our sponsored yahoo partner" (which i never ever use). I could overview the lack of proper bookmark management (found an addon for that) or a missing proper "recently closed tabs button" and just so many other features, that made opera great and a nice niche pick for a browser.

I think i gonna switch to firefox for good now, it just makes me sad what this once awesome browser has become to. 15 great years and such a miserable end is just inapprehensible..

Thanks for the answers. I'm opening Opera without any pages. No other programs. I think I know fairly well (there are people knowing it ever better...) what is running on my computer. I'm simply asking me why any malware should only deal with Opera beta(!) and call a pricelist?
I think it's unlikely that this issue has anything to do with Bitdefender. There are several reasons why Bitdefender does block. Consult the Bitdefender support.
One problem of Opera beta is, that it doesn't allow a really clean uninstall at least when Opera 12.17 is installed also. This fortunately at the moment, see at the end. It is highly probable the cause why the problems remain the same after manually uninstalling and reinstalling. The bookmarks will not be installed again during a 'clean' Opera beta install but the
speed dial entries and at least im my case only one single Extension: A deactivated Ghostery. In fact, the problems began as soon as I had uninstalled Opera beta and reinstalled it.
It is highly probable that this is unintentionally a fairly legal connection connecting at an illegal time. I would rather think that it is the Chromium Engine which shouldn't allow such early connections, even before the extensions are initialized.
Have no access to recently closed tabs or the CTRL+SHIFT+T shortcut

So I closed the window with 25 tabs, 20 of which I was saving for future research so they haven't actually been opened for weeks. There was another window accidentally opened, with only one tab. Now I have NO HISTORY of those 20 not-recently-opened tabs. WHY DOESN'T OPERA ASK LIKE FIREFOX DOES? And HOW CAN I GET MY TAB-LIST BACK?
That's not screaming; it's crying!

This is the forum for Opera beta and Opera developer. If you're using beta/testing versions, you should know things like these are likely to happen.

If you're talking about the stable version, Ctrl+Shift+T only works for tabs so you should find the recently closed window in the Tab Menu at the end of the tab bar.

Yes, you will have to visit the page in order to recreate the thumbnail for you bookmark/speed dial entry.

When creating a NEW bookmark/speed dial if you resize the browser window first you can set the thumbnail with different dimensions. This also works with zooming in and out so as to change the look of the thumbnail image.

If you want to update an old thumbnail you will need to delete the thumbnail from bookmarks and speed dial first and recreate the bookmark/speed dial otherwise it appears that the images available for setting the will thumbnail image will be cached and may be months old.

I'm having trouble getting this webm video to work as an animated theme. Dragging the .zip to the themes page does nothing.
I encoded it myself trying to match the samples @ opera.dev. Could anyone give it a try?

It's an Earth 'timelapse' form the satellite Electro-L.
Btw, using the "themes > create your theme" feature can crash Opera.

With every update so far I went to the routine of deleting the "defaultpartnercontent.json" to get rid of the default search engines (which I never use) and get my custom engines back.

This no longer works. If I do that, Opera whines that a file is corrupted, and won't launch.

I don't want Yahoo to use the "y" shortcut, I want YouTube. I don't want the French Wikipedia on "w", I want the English one.

So is it possible now?
