  I enabled the flag as recommended in the previous answers. It worked. After updating to the newest version (101.0.4843.25), the settings icon appeared.

  Several months prior to posting this topic, I have been sending multiple suggestions to Dev team through this tiny feature, telling them to make search suggestions optional:

  But the search option settings were added several hours after I posted this topic.

  @mshangao It seems to have stopped doing it for now knock on wood. I have had nothing but problems with this update. I even tried to go back and the issues followed me. so I give up for now. -_-' hopefully the mess I had to deal with today stays away and things stabilize. Opera kept freezing on me when I started. over and over until I managed to open multiple windows at once and it finally knocked it off. No clue what in the actual heck. As said even rolling it back did not stop the issue.

  Thanks. It worked.

  I used as connection entry Flow on desktop and not the link. Here no identification code appears. When the code on the phone expires you get disconnected on desktop Opera.

  In old versions, when bookmark bar is hidden, Opera automatically unhides the bookmark bar when a new blank tab is opened. For several users, that kind of workflow is beneficial and a time-saver.

  Since "that" behavior is gone, I end up assigning "CTRL+W" for hiding/unhiding the bookmarks bar.

  Yes, fortunately there is a workaround : reverting to opera 99:

  Steps:

  note this steps if you need to review them offline download the last sane version of opera here : https://get.geo.opera.com/pub/opera/desktop/99.0.4788.9/ unplug the internet install the downloaded version (no need to uninstall the horrible one) in the shortcut you use to launch opera, go to the properties, shortcut tab, and add:
  " --disable-update" (with the space, without the quotes) to the Target. delete or rename the opera_autoupdate.exe file

  The system to handle multiple version is quite well done, so your shortcut should now target opera 99, and not automatically update when you plug back the internet.
