Does your keyboards arrow or PU/PD keys work ok/fine in other areas of your computers operating system (Windows explorer for example) and programs (other web browsers for example) ?.

I've just discovered that I only have a problem when trying to play a video on Win 7 64-bit. When I boot to Win XP 32-bit installed on exactly the same computer and play exactly the same video using exactly the same version of Opera, the video plays fine. I have the latest version of flash player on both systems tuned to Opera and the only two differences between the two systems are that the XP is 32-bit and uses the AVG antivirus while the Win 7 is 64-bit and uses Avast.
Why mess with my settings?

This sounds reasonable, blackbird. It occurred to me that the change made to the Opera browser versus the Mozilla browser was far more all-encompassing which might result in greater frustration and hostility. It does not excuse the vulgar language used by "some" angry posters here but it does provide an explanation.

I use the extension "Lastpass" for Opera 26. Saves my passwords and is more easily synced with all of my devices.

Because there are no toolbar customisation options in Opera starting with version 15.
Unfortunately most of the online documentation is still for Opera versions before 15, the latest of which is 12.17 (there was no desktop version 13 or 14).

That means: the mail client can not authenticate with your login at mail server.

I was unaware the directory paths were there in 'About Opera Mail', and never even thought to look.

I had turned-off hidden files when I originally set this box up, how it went back the other way is beyond me.

It fades out when I move the cursor away from the link on my installation.
Occasionally it does seem to stick on when I first load a page, but it disappears if I left click anywhere on the page that isn't a link.

Huge arrow and black spot? Are you certain that is not a setting in your mouse (if you're using a mouse)? I don't see this.

Yes I'm certain.
Checking "for mouse wheel clicks" and immediately a rather big arrow appears after a mid-click pointing to the direction of the mouse movement. Increasing the movement (= increasing speed) additionally a black spot appears in a distance to the arrow proportional to the speed.

Here's a screenshot but the black spot (about the same diameter as the arrow) seems not to be "screenshotable"

Only five search engines pre-selected can be put as default. What's the problem with unique ID?

It is in the help included with the browser. You can access it by simply pressing F1 or by using the menus (Opera → Help). Then navigate to Find solutions → Backup.

Thanks for responding, I was aware of that, but like you said that's not real fix.
I actually don't understand why there's not an option 'empty on exit', like the one in old Opera.
