I have tried all the proposed solutions and none of them have worked.

@bordeauxrouge Now you can clear all history when you close Opera.
In Settings, under Privacy and Security, select Delete browsing data and click the On exit section.
Choose the data you want to have deleted every time you exit Opera. Click Save, and you’re all set.

Now Opera has updated settings and you can easily set up automatic deleting all cookies and other site data, browsing history, download history, cached images and files, passwords and other sign-in data, autofill form data, site settings, and hosted app data automatically on exit.
To do it you need:
Open Settings (Alt+P). Under Privacy and Security, select Delete browsing data and click the On exit section. Choose the data you want to have deleted every time you exit Opera. Click Save, and you’re all set.

Syncing of tabs is not workspace-aware.

For the definitions of workspaces (not what tabs are in them), those are synced when you sync settings. However, that can be very buggy and you might end up losing workspaces when syncing settings. If you do, you'll lose all the open tabs in those lost workspaces.

@svabox Try it without the ad blocker. Youtube is well known to reduce performance if they detect an ad blocker.

I’ve run into something similar before and it can be super frustrating. Since the gambling site still opens in Opera even after changing your default browser, it definitely sounds like some kind of adware or unwanted startup task

tyvm for your detailed response. It gives me something to work with.
I have been using Opera for at least 10 years. Its not perfect but I hate MS so its a very viable alternative.

I build my own machines but I have zero formal training. I am totally self taught but I only know what I know.
Once I put one together I usually forget things. My pc's are quite old and with W10 going away I will have to build another. My machines were highend builds for games. Current prices are a real deterant tho, $2K for a quality vid card is a real pisser. Costs what my entire past builds cost. Quite annoying considering the new stuff is not really that much better than the past parts.
