For convenience I keep a bookmarks tab open in one workspace. For some reason it likes to revert to a folder in the bookmarks list that I use only infrequently. Is there a way to change this behaviour, preferably by nominating a default bookmarks folder? Not for saving addresses to, but for locating existing bookmarks.
Latest Opera version on desktop PC running Win7 Home 64-bit.
Thanks!

RE: How to control sync direction?Opera for Windows
Couldn't agree more. I have that trouble (tinkering for the sake of it) with Thunderbird, so tend not to update if I can help it. Ditto FF—still keep an ancient version (56) for a single purpose, because updating makes a mess of Roboform that I'm not clever enough to resolve. Cheers from NZ.

RE: How to control sync direction?Opera for Windows
Thanks ledsalesoz. A small comfort to learn that I'm not the only one with this maddening issue. As you say, why would any sync software overwrite newer files with older? On that basis, it seems likely that deleting all the phone bookmarks would simply result in all the PC bookmarks being wiped. I've wasted too much time repeatedly restoring the PC bookmarks, and I'm really not adept at this sort of thing.
Such a shame they can't (or won't) get this right. It's brilliant when it works, but a nightmare otherwise. Seems like a case of spoiling the ship for a ha'porth of tar.

How to control sync direction?Opera for Windows
When I first installed Opera I had no trouble syncing my Android phone to the PC. At some stage it stopped working, and now when I try to sync via the QR code it copies the old bookmarks from the phone and overwrites the newer ones on the PC, when I want to do the opposite. This is driving me mad. Is it possible to force it to sync from the computer to the phone? Would deleting all bookmarks on the phone do it?

RE: Can't sync phone to PCOpera for Windows
Thanks, nimeshthakkar, but I'm afraid the fact that it works for you doesn't help me. The Windows and Android versions of Opera appear unable to talk to each other, or only at cross-purposes. Logging into the account isn't the issue, but why does the PC keep taking me to that (regardless of whether or not I'm already logged in) instead to displaying the six-digit confirmation code? It makes no sense.

Can't sync phone to PCOpera for Windows
In the past I've been able to sync my android phone to the PC, so that the bookmarks on the phone match those on the PC. Now it just doesn't work. On the PC I click MyFlow and Reveal the QR code, scan it with the phone, which then brings up a confirmation number and says "follow the instruction on the PC". But there are no instructions on the PC, instead it goes to my Opera account main page (or to log in if not already).
Over multiple attempts I did once manage to get it synced, but perversely the PC synced to the phone, not the other way around. This deleted all my recent PC bookmarks and I had to do a full image restore of the PC to get them back.
Grateful for any help to get around this maddening problem. This is a brilliant feature if only I could get it to work, as it has in the past.

RE: Cookies not deleted on shut-downOpera for Windows
Many thanks burnout.
Yes, I am synching with Opera on the mobile 'phone. Is this what's preventing the cookie data from being wiped? I would have thought deleting on one device would do so on the other.
Most of the time the sync works seamlessly (eg. for bookmarks) without my having to do anything, but sometimes it stumbles and I have to scan the QR code to update it. I've no idea why this should occur.
Appreciate your help.

Cookies not deleted on shut-downOpera for Windows
Opera 94.0.4606.76
Win 7 Home PremiumI have set the option to "Clear cookies and site data when you quit Opera", but it's not happening. Neither does the "Clear All Data" button work, and clearing them all individually is a time-consuming chore. I've found some cookies dating from months ago even thought the browser is shut down at least once per week.
I found an old thread on this problem, but all posters claimed that everything cleared when Opera was closed, which clearly doesn't cover my problem.
Thanks in anticipation.

RE: [Solved]Default application for clicked linksOpera for Windows
Really? That's a serious omission from an otherwise outstanding browser. So many slick and convenient functions and yet something as elementary as this is missing?
Anyway, thanks for a quick response and saving me from wasting any more time looking for something that's not there. -
[Solved]Default application for clicked linksOpera for Windows
I can find no way to set what application should be opened when a link is clicked, eg. MS Word for .doc files, Foxit for .pdf, etc. Opera just downloads the file, but i don't want the PC cluttered up with files i don't want to keep, neither do I want the fag of finding and opening them.
Surely there is a way to assign default applications?
Thanks.Opera version 80.0.4170.63, Win7 Home.
