Pessala misunderstands the problem, it's not a built-in bittorrent client or support that is the issue, it's a way to handle types of files being downloaded. PDF's are doing the same thing. I want certain files to just open up in their associated applications, not be downloaded, then clicked on to open. This is really confusing and will loose newbies quickly. I like the extensions and the ultra-personalization possible with them, but maybe there should be a native handling method as in Old Opera - with security of certain types of files that can do damage included.

When builtin VPN is on = no Internet connectionOpera for Windows
When builtin VPN is on = no Internet connection
This happens to me to. It's a bit sporadic though. I've tried all the fixes AI has suggested. I change the DNS through HTTPS and this has worked (well once). Mostly it has no effect. This DNS setting also stops my computer from connecting without VPN on. I'm exasperated.

RE: Opera won't close - Stays running multiple instances in background!Opera for Windows
Are you kidding using task manager - that's for defective software! And it is happening again. I noticed it because it slowed down my computer significantly. And I do understand that multiple instances open when running Opera. But as I said, there was an OLD set of Opera processes running from the day before at the same time a new set was running in one for today. When I closed todays, they did close (so they do close down - the problem is not consistantly happening), but the old one - was still running. You can look at the processes in greater detail in something like process explorer and see when they started - (a 'tree') that shows the original process and all the branches - other Opera processes under it. I can kill them and they are gone, but otherwise they are running hidden like a virus. Just reporting a bug...

Opera won't close - Stays running multiple instances in background!Opera for Windows
Besides the fact that this forum is hopeless and ineptly designed... so I can't see if anyone else has mentioned this - as the search is useless (too many results, not relevent results, might as well just scroll through all the posts - but I won't) Opera is up to an old trick again. Now with the chrome engine. It does not close, and I have 20 or more instances running in one tree (from yesterday) in addition to this one I just opened today!

RE: google search result changed display.Opera for Windows
Yeah, seems to be fixed. Must be on Google's side because I still have the same Opera Version.

RE: google search result changed display.Opera for Windows
I have Opera 12 installed too, and it works just fine with it. So Google is not targeting Opera - or is only targeting this version... Is that likely? And if so can't Opera 'fix' it?

RE: google search result changed display.Opera for Windows
But why you don't want to use "Permanent Spoof List" and add only Google to it?
It seems to work well.
Herrpietrus, I tried but it did not seem to work. If it worked for you tell me how and what you entered and where in the options. I tried all sort of variations and nothing changed! I gave up and thought to change the code. I also thought why is there not an option to change the default, and did it myself.
The "User-Agent Switcher" for Chrome also has a right-click on the icon method for switching user agents - so if Facebook is squirrelly you can just switch them. So it's like the For-Opera-Extension "User-Agent Switcher" with the addition of automation.

RE: google search result changed display.Opera for Windows
I figured out how to make the User-Agent Switcher for Chrome (AKA Chrome UA Spoofer) work - All the time. Change the default custom agent!
- Go to the Extensions page - Enter Developer mode
- Go to the User-Agent Switcher for Chrome and open "background page" - which opens the Developer Tools window
- Look for spoofer.js and open the Javascript editing window for it
- Search for: UserAgent("Default","","","",!0,"Chrome"))
- Replace with: UserAgent("Default","Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:15.0) Gecko/20120427 Firefox/15.0a1","Mozilla, Inc.","F15",!0,"Firefox")) - or another agent if you like - I think a few others work too
- Save the file somewhere - right clicking gets you the save as option. The save seems not to work - won't over-right for me.
- Go to C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USERNAME HERE\Application Data\Opera Software\Opera Next\Extensions\djflhoibgkdhkhhcedjiklpkjnoahfmg\1.0.36_0 or where your extension file are
- Make a backup copy of spoofer.js
- Copy the edited copy of spoofer.js from #6 here - over-right it.
- Start Opera
note: If you have a Google search open, refresh it. It should work now!
note: To go back to original default, delete the spoofer.js file and replace it with the original you backed up
I can see this having problems in the future as things change, or possible consequences on other web sites, but it fixes the old-style search results issue.

RE: google search result changed display.Opera for Windows
Can'f figure out how to use the user-agent-switcher mentioned by hal-man. What exactly do you enter and where. No information at all in the Extension's website about how to use it! If I am using it correctly it does not work!

RE: Reversed to old Google?!Opera for Windows
Same thing for me. Seems like a glitch with the latest update Version 21.0.1432.48 as it just started today. But the agent switcher worked! None of the other suggested fixes worked.
