RE: Introducing Opera 102Blogs
@rick2 said in Introducing Opera 102:
Disabling auto-update will only make people keep using old, vulnerable, outdated versions of the browser, which could be even worse than this.
There's nothing wrong using an "older" version if it works fine without creating problems on your browsing. Most of opera updates are about bug fixes or perhaps new features implementation which some people may not like or find them unnecessary. I've also seen many times, bugs been fixed to reappear. Let's not talk about how long it takes them to update chromium.
I'm using more than five browsers and besides opera, all have the decency to inform me about the existence of new versions or updates letting me decide moving or not on installing them.
This way I can check what's new, have all the time to backup my profile in case something goes wrong and been able to restore it much sooner instead of spending time to setup everything from the beginning.
That's why an option been able to disable auto-updates or at least let me decide what to do with them is essential. Something that opera refuses to offer to it's users and finally we all show the results of this kind of policy they insist on following for so long. Still trying to understand what's the logic behind it, denying something that obvious.
I feel much more vulnerable by this than anything else. -
RE: Opera 103.0.4899.0 developer updateBlogs
@andrew84: personally I'd prefer the opposite. Tab bar become shorter, as it was prior to 100 ver. There's no reason to be that high with so much space getting lost.
Totally agree about the new tab cross and I'd also like the close tab (X) become visible as it was before.
As for the disable islands setting, no question about it. Though I don't think it'll ever exist. They're used on removing, than offering options. -
RE: Introducing Opera 102Blogs
I hope this is a good lesson on why you must stop the auto-update policy you keep following for so long, before it's too late.
-
RE: Opera 101 StableBlogs
@andrew84 No question about it. They already have stopped giving us options for quite sometime now but I'm afraid this time they've crossed the red line with this version.

RE: General Opera One Appearance Feedback TopicAppearance
@vegelund After this, I would just say they're playing around and completely stopped paying any attention on their users.
-
RE: General Opera One Appearance Feedback TopicAppearance
@himmelsheriff It's very simple. They were just enjoying opera as it was and now, with this messed up "upgrade" everybody got crazy.

RE: Opera 101 StableBlogs
@nadie-nada-nunca First of all, no one (including myself) requested to remove islands and since there's an option to disable them, that's ok. Problem is that the hole UI has been changed to something no one likes which had been noted by users since developing.
So what I'm simply saying, is that they had all the time to try something different and pay more attention on users opinion. I don't know about programming but I believe that they should first try to add islands in previous UI to see how people would take it and then try to change it. When your own users tells you that they don't like this new look and you continue developing it... I really can't understand it.
I know what smiley face does and of course I've send feedback. The point is that they've been many a lot of complains about it since it's first appearance and requests to be removed but it's still there, without offering nothing useful.
As for auto updating beside it exists for a long time now and actually is a standard opera's politic, almost everybody has requested through this hole time at least to add an option in settings for disabling it, also didn't do anything. And allow me to say that not everybody does it. -
RE: [Compilation]Discussions About Missing Speed Dial/Home Page Button In Opera OneAppearance
@tastodd the sidebar button just opens a new tab while the "home" one that's been taken away didn't.

RE: Opera 101 StableBlogs
Yo! What about that little stupid face on top of SD? You had so many requests to get rid of it and it's still there. Why?
If you don't intend to do so, can't you at least put it somewhere else? Like a sidebar tool for example. This indifference you keep showing on users requests, has become very annoying and want get you anywhere.
You're destroying opera. And for what? Just to play it design pioneers and promote this new fancy islands feature? If we wanted bubble style looking or any kind of UI changes we would ask for it. None did. You show how many dislike posts had been written from the beginning of developing this "great" UI, but you insisted. Why?
Even now, that you've been asked at least to bring back some elements you took away or minor changes we'd like to see, you keep ignoring us.
And first of all stop the auto updating function and just send a notice like all other browsers. You have no right to interfere on our pc's. Especially when most of the updates contain nothing new except bugs. Period -
RE: Opera 101 StableBlogs
Changes I dislike the most:
- Tabs bar became higher now, tabs smaller and close button got out. Why? I prefer to see the X all the time.
- Speed Dial tiles (one of the things I love on opera) had already rounded corners and much better look. The new one is just horrible and has been noted by a lot of people in here.
- Everything on the browser is on top. Bookmarks bar, address bar etc. but you send the side bar tools at the bottom and now I have to move the mouse up and down all the time. Brilliant idea, ha?
- "Start page", one of the most useful button on every browser, is gone. For God's shake. That's insane.
As for the rest of the hole bubble design I have nothing more to add on what's already been posted by so many guys in here. Total failure with nothing useful to offer. Please stop ignoring us and bring us back the opera we loved.

@vegelund said in Opera 100.0.4815.76 Stable update:
But according to the Wizards here; what us complaining stupid users don't understand, is that the (silent) majority like the 100 design.
These secret unicorns think it's an improvement over 99 and want this evolution and bubble mess.
Your and my preference is the problem, not the Opera design. Who could have guessed?
Don't worry. They'll soon enough find out that their magic had no effect on gaining new users. As for the "silent" majority just take a look on comments around the net. Everybody laughs. The stats speak from them self. As for us (the stupid ones), we've warned them.
@andrew84 said in Opera 100.0.4815.76 Stable update:
@stolis The same here. I'll continue using pre-100 version for daily browsing and Chrome or Edge for online payments and etc.
I have no wish to test and post bugs here until I'll see some noticeable improvements in the One's UI/UX.Absolutely. They've messed up everything I loved on opera. Missed your nice and targeted posts by the way.
@kuroodo said in Opera 100.0.4815.76 Stable update:
@stolis Do you know which browsers they have moved on to? I'm also looking for a new browser after being forced into Opera one. I tried Vivaldi for a few days and loved it, but it had some performance issues.
Unfortunately you'll have to test in order to find one that fits you.

RE: Opera 100.0.4815.76 Stable updateBlogs
The sooner you realize that this "fancy" new UI is a total failure and do something about it, the better. After so many complains and dislikes about it you keep walking on the same blind path, which I can only characterize it as "thin ice". I rolled back to 99 from day one and from what I see you don't seem willing to do nothing. Ten friends of mine have already moved to another browser and I'm just one step away from doing the same. You only keep pushing users away from Opera. These are the results of your unnecessary "experiments". The bottom line.
It's a pity.

RE: Opera 100.0.4815.30 Stable updateBlogs
That little face when will be removed from SD? Completely unnecessary and reduces free space.
Please bring back home button and side bar tools at the top where they were. Or at least give us an option.
I don't like this new UI with rounded corners at all. Can't you at least offer some themes like all other browsers do?And by the way, since you decided to change the "O" logo from red to grey, why my desktop shortcut remained red?
Will you finally decide which one are you going to use and do some serious work in there? You may feel thrilled with these changes but a lot of us aren't.

RE: Opera One (100.0.4815.2) betaBlogs
@leocg That's good news. I don't really mind with the UI new look. I can live with that.
I want to believe there will be changes if they try to listen users requests. Like the return of home button for example, that a lot of people like and use.
And it's obvious that on upgrades, there will be changes like UI changes or new features added. They are welcomed and if users like them or not it's something they'll see in posts.
The problem is that on the same time they remove stuff or other features that users are familiar with and like them. Not listening on users and bring them back is their biggest mistake and it seems like they've not learned from the past. That's my (personal) opinion as a 10 year+ user of Opera.
At list I hope they fixed the (hard to read) suggestions dropdown. Which by the way was fixed and all of a sudden came back. It's really hard to understand how they manage to recreate fixed bugs. -
RE: Opera One (100.0.4815.2) betaBlogs
I don't use to have too many tabs open, so I have no need of this islands feature. I hope there will be an option to disable them and just keep the good "old" fashion look.
And please don't do the mistake to remove the home button , 'cause it's very useful to a lot of users as you can read in comments.
The basic stuff that makes a program looks good is (first of all) functionality, followed by a friendly UI and customization.
Unfortunately it seems that you've stopped giving any attention to all of the above on every "major upgrade" you're trying to make on Opera. It's a pity. -
RE: Opera 97.0.4719.43 Stable updateBlogs
@leocg Both Win 10 and 11 via opera 96...80. Also, even though I've set a specific download folder without asking, in this case it does. That's how I saw the downloading ver. number.
Few minutes ago that I've tried again, it did started downloading 97...43 without showing progress on the bar, stucked to 0%, though it was showing the num of bytes and speed.
??????????I didn't faced any problem the previews week with the 1st 97... stable nor any other site I'm downloading files-programs from, nor progress state.
ps. The same problem appears on https://ftp.opera.com/ftp/pub/opera/desktop/, too.
Every other browsers I've used to check, had the same reaction. -
RE: Opera 97.0.4719.43 Stable updateBlogs
I'm trying to download offline package from downloads page and it shows "95.0.4635.80" ver.
Can someone confirm please? - Blogs
