Is it still not possible? With many collapsed tab islands it is quite a mess.

I've submitted version 1.31 with a fix. I'm unable to trim the target language from the title, as there are at least 4 different possibilities depending on the source language: parentheses, en dash, em dash, minus sign.

@jrmenzon-0 I've found the root cause. I did a wrong assumption that in all languages the titles would appear the same, as they now contain full target language name... in the source language.

Unfortunately this is not consistent, e.g.
in English it appear as "Opera (navegador) – Spanish" for [en],
but in Spanish as "Opera (web browser) (inglés)" for [es]

Currently I just trim the title as from the last occurrence of "–", but because of the above, I should not do that

I need to analyse the best approach. Worst case scenario, I will just keep the titles as they are, without removing language names. That would mean, however, that language codes in brackets will become a bit redundant.

@smokofenek The new version finally got validated after I asked a question about it talking so much time.

@smokofenek @JRMenzon-0 Luckily my initial investigation was incorrect! I've just submitted version 1.30 with a fix, making the multi-language titles work with the new page layout. The language bubbles only remain working with the old layout, which is still the default on some language versions and on other Wikimedia project pages. It required a bit of an effort, but after nearly 10 years I release a new version (I'm happy to not have lost my private key to sign it ). Please give some time for it to be validated, before it's made public.

Do not hesitate to tag me, if you spot any issues. I should get an e-mail notification and react faster than in 7 months . Too bad I didn't get one previously.

@jrmenzon-0: @smokofenek: I've had a look today on how to fix it, but with the new Wikipedia layout, language list is loaded on demand. I don't know if I can trigger that by myself and reliably detect when the list is fetched

The last update completely broke my work flow Is there a way to get back the long press the tabs button (or at least the home button) to open a new tab?

@leocg Well, it is indeed my interpretation and the interpretation of many others' too

A tab is not only a control element of a GUI, but it's also a container for – in case of a web browser – the page and its properties, like: it's back and forward history, per tab zoom, etc.

That's why I added this suggestion.

@leocg No, reopening a tab in a web browser means that you can go back and forward through the tab history. In current state only the last page gets reopened, which is different.

At least if it would say clearly what it does, I wouldn't be negatively surprised nor angry every time I need to reopen a tab.

Hi, the "Reopen closed tab" menu option should be renamed to "Reopen closed page".

Because history of the tab is not preserved, it's in fact only the last page that gets reopened. Current function name causes a lot of confusion.

Thank you for restoring the old behaviour! We can now open a new tab and choose a page from the Speed Dial.

This reminds me a blog post of one of Opera employees on the My Opera portal, back in the days, about the alternative revenue streams for reimplementing functions removed from the browser.

Finally - the tab count shows the real number of tabs opened now.

@operamilleson I would prefer it to be like it always was. If you though prefer to keep it as it is now, I would suggest not to show the start page as a tab, but instead have it full screen all the time and be able to pull the screen to the left to see SD, just like when we switch between the normal and private tabs' list.

I hope you can consider this suggestion.

The solution is to press the home button instead of the new tab button! It will open SD and when you select a page, it will get opened in a new tab and not in the current one.

@schtekaren Oh, now I understood! So the home button works simply quite like a new tab button! Thank you for the explanation. I was really sure that it would open speed dial in the current tab.

@operamilleson If you want to know something about my interaction with the browser - I was opening a new tab, where I wanted to see the speed dial, but it was not there, so I was pressing the back button, then the tab got closed, then I was going back to the tab list, moving to the leftmost one to see my speed dial and then I could open my page. So it was a very slow dial, as it was so unintuitive for me.

In my opinion, you should just add a new tab button in place of the home button and SD should always appear in this new tab. It's no use for me to have this static page that lets me think that I have more left to read than I have in reality.

Hello, is this normal that the Speed Dial page is always opened in the first tab and the tab count is, because of this, always larger than the number of pages that are in fact opened? This is so counter-intuitive for me. Speed dial was always present in a new tab, but now to access Speed Dial, I need to do some super complicated tricks and when I have, let's say 4 pages opened, I can see that there are 5 tabs opened.

Is this how it was designed? (If so, it's a very bad design, in my personal opinion.)

Hi! Is there any way to have Speed Dial opened in a new tab automatically? Right now, I only get this list with icons of most visited (?) pages. This is super annoying for me.

I didn't find any option to change it, but want to ask to be sure.
