@leocg I tried to upload an Opera snapshot but got a parsing error. In the main settings page, where you enable Early Bird, when I switch it on it remains grayed out, nothing happens. In the quick setup menu it says Early Bird needs to be enabled. But there's no way to enable it. I thought that it might be a region specific feature.

There were some problems, but I already updated it on github!

@duncanm I've also had Opera times take longer and longer to load, as well as now it has issues loading a myriad of other websites, and youtube videos pretty much never work anymore.

Hey, it's 2021 and this issue hasn't been fixed on the main opera build… but I found a way that doesn't nees to tweak with the Experiments (I also don't think Widevine is available there anymore).

First I opened the Opera Components tab by typing chrome://components, but the update function did nothing. I went to the extensions store but couldn't find Widevine Content Decryption Module there, so basically I installed the "Install Chrome Extensions" and tried it again.

It took me a while to figure out that I'd have to relaunch Opera before I would enable the update check, but it worked. So basically all I needed to do was install that official extension by Opera, relaunch the program and update Widevine on the Components. Not bad for someone who just started using Opera for Windows today, huh? 😆

Thanks for the return visit, duncanm! I agree that it's odd that Opera lacks better skinning functionality -- especially considering how customizable it is, otherwise.

Regarding WB versions, I'm actually not using the latest one. So the problem is not limited to that.

I have, at least, found a workaround:

If I make any settings change in Flags, and then restart Opera, the program avoids getting skinned by WB at all. That restores the missing components (Window control buttons, etc.). This accomplishes what the WB "ignore this app" command is supposed to but doesn't. Annoying, but it works. Of course, this means having to keep the browser open all day to minimize the annoyance; but I don't find that to be a problem. I mean, not on the scale of global warming or anything. Really, when you think about it, software is just a bunch of electrons getting herded by programming cowboys. (ecowboys?) It's amazing that it works as well as it does.

They just say Opera is not supported and I should use Chrome. I asked them why it was working before and not now and they said I would have to ask Opera, since it's Opera that's been updated, nothing has changed with their site recently. I had assumed that supporting Chrome meant supporting Chromium based browsers in general, but since it now works with Vivaldi and not Opera that doesn't appear to be the case and something else must have changed with the recent update.
