Thanks for that, it's too bad.

RE: Extension upgrade requires additional permissions...Opera for computers
What is Rich Hints Agent ? Never heard of it and googling doesn't have anything about it.

RE: Extension upgrade requires additional permissions...Opera for computers
Right click on your Opera shortcut and click on properties, which opens a box. Under the tab marked shortcut you'll see a box marked target, with a path indicated. Add to that path, after a space, -show-component-extension-options. Then click on apply and close the box. Then open Opera and go to extensions.
It took me a couple of tries to get this but now I see that I have no less than 14 hidden extensions, most of which I know nothing about. But I do know I don't need AliExpress or Google Hangouts. Most of the rest I don't have a clue what they're doing there. I have to agree with those who said this is a troubling issue. I don't like having a lot of stuff installed by a program without my knowledge.

RE: Redirect NoticeOpera for Windows
Problem solved, or at least figured out. It's caused by a change with google news a couple of months ago. There are now two google news url's, an older legacy one now mainly associated with mobile devices and a new one associated with desktops. The older one has been deprecated. So when you go to google news via the old url it still goes to google news but when you click on a link you get redirected to the page your'e trying to get to but under the new url. I haven't so far been able to fix the problem by going to the new url, when I try that I get a 404 error. But some quick googling indicates that others are having similar problems. I've discovered that other browsers don't trigger the redirect notice because they automatically remove the new url redirect, they cancel it and automatically send you to the requested page. But Opera doesn't do that. So I haven't solved the problem but at least I know now what's causing it.

Changing the target workaround didn't work. Added --show-component-extension-options but it's still doing it.

Extensions Not Working in Speed DialOpera for Windows
I just updated to 60 and my speed dial extensions(clock, weather) no longer show up. For some reason they appear as icons on the bookmarks bar but can't be used there and can't be moved to speed dial. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling these extensions but they still don't show up. Anyone else notice this ?

Netflix Problem: Videos don't playOpera for Windows
Starting yesterday Opera Beta 65.0.3467.32 won't play anything on Netflix, although it works fine in Firefox. I understand there was a thread about this some time ago relating to regular Opera, does anybody know if this problem is going to be fixed in the Beta version ?

Launch time increasingOpera GX
This isn't a critical problem but I've been noticing over the last few updates that GX has been taking longer to launch, sometimes as much as 10 seconds to load my opening speed dial page. This wan't a problem in the past, it started a few updates ago and seems to be getting a little worse over time. I'd be curious to know if anybody else has noticed this and if there's anything that can be done to improve launch time. Thanks.

RE: Option to show Twitch on sidebar doesn't existOpera GX
@leocg That worked, so I guess the problem has to do with the profile I imported from Opera Stable. It's just unfortunate that to use that feature I'd have to re-do all my speed dials, add my extensions and so on, start with a completely new profile except for bookmarks. Maybe I'll do that when I have a little more free time. But thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

RE: Option to show Twitch on sidebar doesn't existOpera GX
@leocg Thanks, I tried that and it turns on but there's nothing in sidebar and when I go back to settings page it's disabled again. I copied my Opera Stable profile over to GX so that may have something to do with it, but I did try disabling all extensions and resetting to defaults and that didn't work. It's not hugely important, I was just curious. It would be a useful feature but if it's going to take a long time to trouboleshoot I'll just try and sort it out when I have more time.

Option to show Twitch on sidebar doesn't existOpera GX
Just trying out GX for the first time, I couldn't find any info on enabling Twtch in the sidebar. There's a Twitch setting in settings but it doesn't do anything. It turns on but then turns off as soon as settings is closed. I googled this but couldn't find any clear info, is there a particular extension I need to add to get this feature working ?

RE: Opera and WindowBlindsOpera for Windows
I'm the OP, I had forgotten about this and was surprised to see it come up again. That 2019 WindowBlinds update was the most recent, it hasn't been updated since. I just rolled back to the earlier version and left it at that. The new update really didn't add anything to the program which was fairly typical. I've found a number of times that third party programs like WB can cause problems with browser settings, but without a good understanding of how both programs work it can be difficult to troubleshoot. So it's just one of those random things that comes up from time to time and not a serious problem. I didn't get an answer to my post and just forgot the whole thing. But I really do wish that Opera had better customization options, like Firefox. I love Opera and I've been using it for years and years but this is one aspect where I always thought it was a little lacking. Light or Dark is pretty limited and it's unfortunate that third party customization programs don't seem to work well with Opera or Firefox.

RE: Extension upgrade requires additional permissions...Opera for computers
That means you need a space between .exe and the launch command.

RE: Extension upgrade requires additional permissions...Opera for computers
How do you normally open Opera ? There should be a shortcut in your start menu under all programs but I'm using Win 7, don't know how it works on 10.

RE: Extension upgrade requires additional permissions...Opera for computers
If you added the additional launch command to the target path they should be there, if not I'm not sure what the problem is.
My problem with this is that Rich Hints is asking for a new permission to read and change all my data on every website I visit. And I don't even know what it is. Googling both the name and the dev's name doesn't turn up anything. Not comfortable with it at all, maybe time to go back to Firefox.

They're listed under all, with Rich Hints, the one that needs updating, at the top. It also appears under the updates tab.
