@richard127gm It's not the perfect solution but you can "pin" starting page to the card barstart.jpg

@darkwind23 It is not the solution at all! This way doesn't provide the functionality of Start button (or Speed Dial button) that opens Speed Dial in active page.
They put Speed Dial button to Sidebar now. Very strange decision, to my mind. I never used this bar.

@pindos This is how I did it and it works great, the older version of opera was better at this

@tastodd said in Start Page button is missing in Opera 101.0.4843.25:

The "start page button" has been moved to the sidebar

Why moved? It was there all the time.

@richard127gm By the way, I always close the tabs, so it's the default behavior for me.

Wrongly expressed. Did not move, but remained only on the sidebar

                      this is goofy

                      reserve the "sidebar" for apps

i and many others dont use the sidebar

please return the speed dial button to just left of the address bar

noone cares about that other nonsense

I never use the sidebar, or even bookmarks because I really hate having a cluttered UI, the removal of the speed dial button from the address bar is quite stupid.

@llorente2000 Some of us arent too computer savy :(. I am not sure how to do it. Even searching my computer for opera 100 or opera 99 brought nothing up. Can anyone please explain how to do this as 100 is garbage!

@fixopera Yes, I notice a couple of changes in my version of Opera as well. I have since had to unintsall and reinstall Opera in an attempt to fix a different issue.

I am missing my home button and am having difficulty finding how to set home page. When I installed it a month or 2 ago I somehow managed to find a home page button.... no longer. Home button allows me to get to my most used website with a click instead of typing in the search box and then finding what I want in the returned hits.

Not having a home button sucks, please make one, what's the harm in making people happy.

It is a shame opera is not fit for purpose anymore without a home button at the top.
Also they have stopped blocking adds and are now in league with google !
There are plenty of other browsers now that block ads using ublock but none of them seem to
have a nice user interface and none of them do tabs as well as opera.
I've had to go back to firefox with ublock but tabs are rubbish in comparison.
There are a few browsers now not offering the home button by default on the argument
it is easy to click on new tab, but that method requires you to close your existing tab
                                  ie an extra click ???

@cragmc I agree. Put ot back. It can be found in the sidebar settings, if you search. But it's awkward to use way down there. Put speed dial back the way it was. That's what makes Opera unique.

                                        HI,

After the update the start page button disappeared, and its also gone from the settings now! Is this a bug or a feature?! I need my start page button.

Love the new look – and miss the speed dial button. Currently use the sidebar icon but having it in the url-bar was way easier. As an option (like VPN), even with default off, would be great. Thanks!

It's pretty ridiculous getting rid of the Home button, like if you don't need a page you can get to Speed Dial with one click. But now you have to close that page, go to the end of an Island, and add a new page, just to get to SD.

SD is now redundant, because to get to stuff fast you make a bookmark folder with all the SD links inside. That way you can get to stuff fast on any page, which make the actual SD page useless.
