Very disappointed at the complete non response in relation to this issue.
I've sent four emails to Opera support detailing the details in relation to the app crashing and sent them a screen recording too.
Received no response whatsoever.
As a result I've deleted the app and I was a long term user and supporter of Opera.

@markiet18 100% agree. This thread has been open for more than a month with no response from opera. Horrible customer support.

@akkk said in Crashing on some Samsung devices.:
Solved Removing The Samsung Personal Area.
Once uninstalled the personal area the Opera App back to normal behavior and works.
I suppose there is something that doesn't work between Opera and Personal Samsung Personal Area in Android 13 UI 5.0Could you explain how you did that?
I can't find Samsung personal area on my device -

Hello. we apologize for our delayed response.
If you could help us, please test the steps below and let us know if they fix the problem.Test 1:
- Go to Phone's settings
- Tap Apps
- Find "One UI Home" apps
- Delete cache and data (in Storage)
- Start Opera or restart Phone
Test 2:
- Go to Google Play
- Search for "Android System WebView"
- Check the version number and remember that
- Select "Uninstall" (You will not lose any data from other apps)
- Enable or Update "Android System WebView" again
- Restart Opera
or - Restart phone
- Wait until the phone finished start up processes and start Opera

@miyukiwork Hi Miyuki,
First of all, thank you for paying attention to this bug.
Now, to your suggested tests, none of them worked for me
Test 1:
I use "Nova Launcher" as the default app launcher, instead of "One UI". Nevertheless, before creating the bug report, I tried switching to the vanilla One UI from Samsung and the behavior was the same. Now, I deleted cache and data for One UI and the behavior is still the same, whether I'm using One UI or Nova Launcher: Opera screen opens and closes inmediately.Test 2:
Android Webview version 108.0.5359.128, last update: 13-dec-2022. Uninstalled/reinstalled, still same behavior. Attaching screenshot (catalan language):
Let me know if there're more test you want me to try or more info about detailed version numbers for OS/models/Operas, etc.
Thanks again,
Enric -

Another favor for those who can connect to a debugger. Can you send in logs when the crash happens? We are trying to reproduce the issue, but not succeeded so far. Please use: gp-support-opera-android@opera.com

I have adb connected and
adb logcat
spits out a lot of log lines, but I don't think you need them all. What filter/command line do you need there?

I just sent a log of launching Opera with no filters to that email address and the one for the opened bug.
Let me know if that was what you needed.

Try to read here:
https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/what-is-the-secure-folder-and-how-do-i-use-it/section
How do I remove the Secure Folder?Sorry for the late reply, but I couldn't find the correct English name for the function.

-Samsung S21 FE
-Android 13
-Opera and Opera Beta crash as soon I try to open the app
-Opera Mini works perfectly. In my experience Opera stops to work creating a Secure Folder (https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/what-is-the-secure-folder-and-how-do-i-use-it/).
After a complete uninstal of Secure Folder (see link above), Opera works again without issues.
In tha past "Android 12 / One UI" configuration both Opera and Secure Folder works

Same here.
I actually uninstalled Secure Folder following the instructions in the link but opera still crashing, so it doesn't seem to be (exclusively) an issue related to Secure Folder.
However I have a work partition (that works under Knox, same tech used for Secure Folder). Maybe there's some interaction with Samsung Knox that makes Opera go nuts?Do other users with the same problem also have Secure Folder or Work Profiles/Partitions?

I have both Secure Folder and Work Profile (using Knox) but Opera is installed in standard user space. It's been over a month since I last managed to use Opera. I have uninstalled/reinstalled several times and the only thing I do now is check the play store for new version.
I have a Pixel 3 as well (and a Samsung Galaxy S6 lite Tab) and Opera works fine on both.

@akkk now that you mentioned, I did start using the secure folder.. so it can be related.. well unfortunately I have zero intentions of unstalling my secure folder. I'll keep using another browser until they fix this problem with opera.. it's a pity though cause I really miss using opera on my phone
