@burnout426 said in Opera 93:
@treego You need a libffmpeg.so that's based on Chromium 107 that also only requires Glibc 2.31 or whatever you have (
ldd --version
to find out) .Most versions of libffmpeg.so now require 2.35, but https://github.com/Ld-Hagen/fix-opera-linux-ffmpeg-widevine/releases/tag/nwjs-ffmpeg-0.70.1 might not. You can test to find out. Or, you can wait till vivaldi-snapshot moves to Chromium 107 and try its libffmpeg as mentioned here. I'm not sure what version of Glibc it requires.
Or, you might have to update ChromeOS. I see https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/g/chromium-os-dev/c/NEK8h6HVV1s, but I don't know the current status of things.
Thank you @burnout426 !!!
I have regretfully decided to switch browsers for now ... I am getting too old to be messing around with all these files to maintain Opera on my system. Thank you for responding, though. Perhaps, it will help someone else, too.
Bon voyage, Opera. We had a good run.

Which Linux version is the best for multimedia? Snap or Deb? A few years ago the Deb version lack certain codecs just wondering if this had all been sorted out or I should go with the snap package

@u1travio1et For the deb version, you still need to find the right libffmpeg.so for it and update it every time Opera moves to a new major version of Chromium. But, the deb version of Opera loads up at normal speed (way faster than the Snap version).
I can't say much about the snap version of Opera as I don't use it. But, I guess things are supposed to just work out of the box as long as the chromium-ffmpeg Snap package is installed. But, I guess there can be compatibility issues there too sometimes. And, I see users saying that for new versions of Opera, the Snap package takes even longer to come out than the deb package (which sometimes takes a while to be uploaded).
So, my vote is for the deb package.

@burnout426: thanks for the info, I'll stick with the snap package as everything just works, yes loading time are longer on first run after a fresh boot-up but I'm hardly ever totally switching off my laptop.
Thanks again

@jojo0587: Has this problem affected a small number of people? Or is everyone just silent about it?
Let's look for similar reasons.
I have Tampermonkey and uBlock Origin installed. But disabling them completely and restarting the browser does not solve the problem.
The pop-up menu, by the way, works without problems on the Opera settings page. -

Hate to say this, but my opera still doesn't work at all, as I wrote above. I tried to reset all settings, tried to reinstall, I have sent numerous bug reports. Any ideas, what can I do? I don't know how it's possible to downgrade opera version to 92 (on mac os), which worked fine.

@justgray: For me, this plugin causes the search pop-up not to be displayed. After disabling it and restarting Opera - it is. I had the plugin in the same version in the previous stable Opera and the search pop-up was displayed.

@jojo0587 More specifically, the search pop-up is not displayed when I have 2 specific scripts running. But they were in the same version as I currently had installed on the previous stable Opera and the search pop-up was displayed.
I installed fresh Opera portable 93.0.4585.11. In it is exactly the same with these two scripts as in my daily Opera. But in that test one I installed Tampermonkey and only those two scripts. In my daily Opera (Violentmonkey runs scripts) I just disable both scripts and restart Opera - search pop-up is displayed. And in the test Opera (with Tampermonkey), just disabling both scripts and restarting Opera does not display the search pop-up. In this Opera, the search pop-up is only displayed when I turn off Tampermonkey. So I don't think it's the fault of both scripts here. Apart from that - they have nothing to do until after I select the text.
My proposals for changes in Opera (Google Document).

Why was this hidden last week and the changelog is a 404 again
Why Open the Web?
Despite the connecting purpose of the Web, it is not entirely open to all of its users.
When used correctly, HTML documents can be displayed across platforms and devices.
However, many devices are excluded access to Web content. -

Is there anyone who can explain what's the use of "GX.games" in settings, especially in this version of opera?

It remains disappointing how incomplete the recently visited site list is -- or should I say how picky it's been programmed in choosing. Most of the sites I've been looking at the last hour, including the most recent, are not there. Third in the list and on down are sites I looked at last night. Have to open History to just look again at the last one, which I had gotten to via a google search.
