If you keep up to date with the latest security updates on macOS you might have spotted warnings about the Opera application being damaged on your system. This is related to how our update mechanism works. If you see this warning there is nothing to worry about. Unfortunately you will have to reinstall the latest…

Is this something that will be resolved by the Opera in the future (via manual update) or is there a need for end user action? And if so, what needs to be done (aside from re-downloading latest Opera build manually)?

Additionally, in the event where damaged Opera application is not moved to the Bin (cancel option is selected on the dialogue box) are there any left over downloads (failed or otherwise) that need to be manually removed from the specified temp directory?

@ebon-hawk As far as I know, you just need to download and install the latest version.

macOS 10.15.7 was out already, it was a security update to it Security Update 2021-002 Catalina, Not sure if the same fix is in Security Update 2021-003 Mojave.

            Why Open the Web?

Despite the connecting purpose of the Web, it is not entirely open to all of its users.
When used correctly, HTML documents can be displayed across platforms and devices.
However, many devices are excluded access to Web content.

@ebon-hawk: If I recall right one of the new betas or developer builds has the fix already (I am guessing future stable updates will also). As of right now users just need to manually download the update to update.

@ebon-hawk: The issue is already fixed in Opera, but because the issue is with updating and we can't update the affected versions to a version with the fix (because it's the update that won't work), you need to do a manual update.

But only once, because after doing the manual update you'll have a version with the fix.
