@sgunhouse which build? Can't find any notes in latest stable or latest devs. Or I miss something?

Actually, it was a different flag, but similar. If you click the tab search it lists the last 3 closed tabs, but you can click on "Show more" to see more.tabs though a flag can hide that button.

@sgunhouse oh this, it's not what we want to bring back, search in closed completely removes the synced tabs from other devices, closed tabs function earlier was more ergonomic than new search - so it's step back...

Changes are in the blog, including this one. If you want it back, post in the Feature request thread - posting here accomplishes nothing.

I did start a thread in the feature request to bring back the feature we're discussing here, and just like here, it accomplished nothing.

The flag is back, plus "Recently closed tabs" are shown in a dropdown if you click on the Search button.

Unfortunately it's not remotely close to the being a replacement. Removal of this feature has been a massive blow to my research workflow

Why don't we all duplicate our posts in this forum to the Opera blog where maybe the devs will see the depth of feeling on this so called improvement. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to add your comments.

@maheshparli It restores (full) recently closed tabs. Tabs menu is gone.

Logged in here to see if the old trick with the flags worked. It doesn't, the browser autoupdated to 70 version and now I'm stuck without yet another Opera feature that was extremely useful.

But that's it. I'm moving on to Vivaldi and I'll make sure that every single one of my friends, to whom I recommended Opera, leave it as well.

I hope this will go down as the single most stupid design decision in Opera's history and it drives aways the hundreds of users like me, who still hung on for years.

People of this thread: this conversation is months old, which shows that Opera's developers really don't care about it, the old trick with the flags won't work anymore and you all should just choose a better browser. Vivaldi and Firefox seems to be great.

Remember to remove the browser from your devices and to delete your Opera account, that's the only way they'll take notice (spoiler, they wont and they don't care).

Mind you, the question was about Developer - I haven't checked in Stable yet. I'm on my mobile currently and can't look it up, but I just searched for "tabs" and it was among the half dozen matches.

@operast The flag is available in Opera beta 71 an din Opera developer 72. Opera stable doesn't have it.

Edit : I noticed I have to click "show more" every time (eyeroll). It's like these developers don't want to make anything user friendly.

People! Downgrade to Opera 69, close opera immediately after launch (you have to be fast!), find opera_autoupdate.exe and rename it, launch opera, type opera://flags/#search-in-open-tabs, disable it. That's it, you have the function back, fully with cross platform browsing.

@azrael78 I'd love to do this, but I can't seem to find an official installation of Opera 69. Is there such a place to download?
