Regular Opera has a fix for this issue. See DNA-107508 at https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/changelog-for-98/. Opera GX just hasn't gotten the fix, but will soon.

this week I tried to log in whatsapp web by Opera GX, but I'm not getting, the problem is in the browser and not on the phone because today I tried to enter by microsoft edge and managed quietly.
the QR code pops up and everything, but when I try to read the code it doesn't pick up.

Just updated opera and it is working again, thanks anyway.

Just cleared the cookies and the sound came back!
